MADELIA AREA Chamber NEWSLETTER “What you see depends on how you see the world” March 2015 Newsletter To most people, this is just dirt. To a Farmer, it is Potential . Doe Zantamata We are very excited here at the chamber office. Our next event on Monday, March 30th, we are taking a night to say Thank you to our farmers and agricultural sector by hosting the Annual Chamber Ag Night. This event will be held at the American Legion in Madelia starting with a social hour from 5-6pm, dinner at 6pm followed by our speaker at 6:30pm. Our menu for the evening will be appetizers (sponsored by Citizens Bank Minnesota) pork chops, baked potatoes, salads, dinner rolls and dessert from Sweet! Indeed. This year’s keynote speaker will be Carissa (Cunningham) Spencer NRCS State Agronomist. Carissa was raised on a farm northwest of Madelia. Her parents are Steve and Lavonne Cunningham. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1993 and yes, she was very active in FFA, 4-H, student council, was accepted into the Minnesota House of Representatives Page Program, played volleyball and golf. After high school, Carissa attended Iowa State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy with a minor in speech communications. She has been a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) for the past thirteen years. Before coming to NRCS she worked as a chemical sales representative and a sales agronomist. She was awarded Civil Servant of the Year in May 2014. This is a great opportunity for your business to invite a farmer for an enjoyable and educational evening.
