Letters from soldiers who received a “Coins for Caring” Gift from Hamilton Local Schools Hello, My name is Toyia Robinson and I just received a care box from your school. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness! It made my day because I donʼt receive mail that often and it makes you feel special, even though you donʼt know who you got the package from! Again I really appreciate the package and I read all the letters and cards that were enclosed in the package from your students. I will keep in touch with the ones that requested a response from me. Thanks again! V/R, SPC Toyia Robinson USARCENT-STB APO-AE 09306 From: Russ Moore It takes special people to send a soldier, a stranger, a special gift like you have done. Thank you from bottom of my heart! My name is SPC Russell Moore, and I am from Portsmouth, Ohio. Iʼm serving in Afghanistan till Oct 2011. I am stationed at Ft. Polk, LA. Thank your school for us, for doing the Coins for Caring. It is really helping us get through- very grateful to have you all do this for us. … Well Thomas, I don't have much time so I want you to take care of yourself...Be safe! Stay out of trouble. Always do your homework, study for tests. An education is really important in life... Become successful and be someone important in life. Listen to your teachers! Even though they can be annoying:) Listen, for their job is to teach you and help you become smart. Take care! SPC Daniel Rodriguez Hi my name is EO1 Brian Johnson and I am in the United States Navy Seabees. I am currently deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 26. NMCB 26 is a Reserve Battalion that is based out of Selfridge, MI. It is made up of smaller detachments from all over Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. I am stationed right down the street from your school at Rickenbacker. I live in Canal Winchester and I also went to Hamilton when I was a kid. I have 2 kids that go to Canal Winchester Middle and Elementary. I would like to thank you for the care package and letter. It really made our day when we received it. It is good to know that everyone back home is thinking of us. With the majority of the Battalion coming from Ohio and Michigan you could only imagine that the big game was a big deal around here. With the temperatures starting to dip into the high 20ʼs and low 30ʼs at night we tend to stay in our rooms after we get off but that night we set up a projector and showed the game outside. Again I would like to thank you and your students very much for taking the time out of your day to write us letters and making the paper ornaments for the tree and for thinking of us. We really do appreciate it. V/R, EO1 (SCW/SW) Brian Johnson NMCB 26 ALFA Company Transportation Supervisor ** In this email you get a picture of the tree with some of the paper ornaments on it. It is set up in the office I share with 4 other people. In the picture is myself EO2 Fix who is the company clerk and EOC Thompson who is the company operations chief. I am also sending a picture of the entire company. I wanted to send you a quick note and express my thanks for sending the care package. I am a Soldier stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan with the 504th Military Police Battalion. We are an active duty Army unit based out of Fort Lewis, Washington. We have been in Southern Afghanistan for about six months training the Afghanistan National Police to provide security for the people of Kandahar. I grew up in Groveport, Ohio and graduated from Groveport-Madison High School and Franklin University. I was commissioned as an officer from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at The Ohio State University. I am very familiar with the location of your schools. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to make the items in the care package. It was entertaining to see a group of Soldiers standing around eating the candy you sent, reading the letters, and looking at the pictures and ornaments. I just wanted you to know your efforts were greatly appreciated and brought many smiles and laughter to Soldiers. Your generosity is a great reminder of home and a peaceful society. Thank you.
