Registration fees for the meetings and dinner are as follows: NASB MEMBER$72 CANCELLATION FEE $20 AGENDA REGISTRATION, NETWORKING & EXHIBITORS | 4:30 PM VISION SESSION | 5:00 TO 6:10 PM BREAK | 6:10 TO 6:30 PM TRAINING SESSIONS | 6:30 TO 7:20 PM NETWORKING DINNER & AWARDS/RECOGNITION | 7:25 PM 15 AWARDS OF ACHIEVEMENT POINTS WILL BE EARNED FOR ATTENDING VISION SESSION ONE VISION – ONE STATE Attendees will be active participants in the development of a vision for addressing Nebraska’s reliance on property taxes for school funding. The foundation of the Vision Session will be open, round table discussion. This ground level discussion of what we will be asking of our legislators / lawmakers is a unique opportunity where you will represent your district and community. TRAINING SESSIONS MONEY - MONEY - MONEY | District budgets require year-round attention. Attendees will learn about the budget process and how to utilize the annual Board / Superintendent planning calendar, including negotiations timelines. An explanation of funds and how to properly prepare for replacement of items through depreciation or building funds will also be covered. Presenter - Carl Dietz ENGAGING EVERY BOARD MEMBER | A new board member must engage in learning to establish a clear understanding of the proper governance roles and responsibilities of the board. The experienced board member must engage in learning to grow their knowledge of how to overcome the challenges board members encounter when serving education. This session will engage the new and experienced board members and administrators in professional development to discuss proper board governance vs. micro managing administration. Presenter - Marcia Herring EDUCATED BOARDS + COLLABORATIVE SUPERINTENDENTS = SUCCESS | Participants will identify the key characteristics to a positive board/superintendent relationship. This will lead to a discussion of district leadership accountability including the guidelines of an effective superintendent evaluation and the board’s responsibility to complete a board self-assessment. The session will wrap up with areas of consideration when facing a superintendent vacancy. Presenter - Shari Becker WHAT’S REQUIRED OF SCHOOLS? | The only thing constant is change. New policy regulations required by the federal government and new safety standards required by the state of Nebraska will be shared in this session.
