Thus you can always contact an expert, who can make quick decisions and provide information on detailed queries. Friction losses are minimized, effects on saving of time and expenses maximized. 7 Chlor-alkali electrolysis By means of the chlor-alkali electrolysis the electrolysis of a saline solution (NaCl or KCl solution) produces the products sodium hydroxide or caustic potash solution (NaOH or KOH solution, respectively), chlorine (Cl2) and hydrogen (H2). The electrolysis is carried out using modern membrane electrolyzers, according to the conclusion of the BREF Document (Best Available Technique Reference Document) for the chlor-alkali industry. Feedstock for the chlor-alkali electrolysis are salt (NaCl or KCl) and water (H2O). The salt originates either from seawater (solar salt NaCl), mineral deposits (rock salt NaCl or KCl) or salt from evaporation processes (evaporated salt: NaCl or KCl). Advantages No environmental impact by amalgam or asbestos High product purity Simple handling and operation Low investment and operating costs The primary products of the chlor-alkali electrolysis according to the membrane method are NaOH as a 32 % lye or KOH as 29 % to 32 % lye, hydrogen gas and chlorine gas. We are able to offer electrolyzers from the world‘s leading manufacturers. Thereby we meet the special requirements of our customers. OAO Sajanskchimplast, Sajansk, Russia, 2006 Project: Conversion of the chlorine and sodium hydroxide production from mercury to membrane technology (Mercury-Membrane Conversion) Scope of services: Project management, Basic and Detail Engineering, Supply of equipment, Installation supervision and commissioning support Capacity: 170,000 t/a (NaOH – based on 100 %) 150,000 t/a (chlorine) Capacity increase (2013) to 180,000 t/a chlorine Scope of supply: The following main equipment units were integrated: membrane electrolyzers, hydrochloric acid synthesis, three-stage sodium hydroxide evaporation, fully automatic ion exchange 8 Sulphuric acid HUGO PETERSEN – a subsidiary of Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz GmbH – set new standards regarding sulphuric acid processes by implementing the tower plant process, which replaced the lead chamber process. HUGO PETERSEN Technologies For HUGO PETERSEN, sulphuric acid is not just a technology, but an innovation. For the past 100 years, sulphuric acid plants for the highest standards are built according to the Petersen technology. Over the decades, optimal concepts for the sulphuric acid plants of the world have been developed. Petersen-Tower-Technology Dry catalysis Wet catalysis SUPEROX-Technology The further process optimization is hereby our continuous aspiration in the interests of our customers. BASF Antwerpen N.V., Antwerp, Belgium, 2011 Project: Construction of an oleum / sulphuric acid plant at the Verbund Site in Antwerp Scope of services: Project management, Basic and Detail Engineering, Procurement services, Supply of main equipment, Installation supervision, Commissioning, Staff training Capacity: 1,200 t/d SO3 (converted into oleum) 9 Natural gas storage facilities Storage facilities for natural gas provide the balancing of the differences between available and required gas quantities as well as the balancing of seasonal fluctuations (summer / winter), the short-term supply of natural gas for various consumers, the balancing of network fluctuations and establishing of a constant line pressure respectively, the securing of the gas supply in the event of operational disturbances in production facilities or transport systems. Advantages CAC offers its process engineering expertise starting with the planning up to the commissioning of gas storage facilities in the above-ground facilities range. This applies to all plant sections in the main gas stream as well as the associated auxiliary and secondary plants. Multi-line plant sections and modular design allow for: « good adjustment to changed gas flow rates, « redundancy upon failure of individual components and « gradual expansion of the gas storage facility. Particular attention is directed towards the requirements of safety engineering and environmental protection. Providing the most suitable plant concept for: « high flexibility, « optimal adjustment of the plant to varying gas flow rates, « high profitability and « maximum availability and reliability of the plant. Stable level of automation allows low operating costs Rohöl-Aufsuchungs AG, Vienna, Austria, 2011 Project: Construction of a natural gas underground storage facility in 2 expansion steps Haidach I and II Scope of services: Project management, Authority engineering and Basic Design, Detail Engineering, Procurement by order and for account of the customer, Installation supervision, Commissioning Max. usable storage capacity: 2.64 billion Nm3 10 Refinery engineering In the field of refinery engineering we offer you our engineering services for the planning and construction of process plants within refineries.
