Principal’s Message
My heart is always so warmed by the
outpouring of support from our community for
Elkhorn’s Celebration of Giving! Our mittens were
swooped up quickly and we were even able to help
another family! Thank you all for your support and
giving throughout this Holiday season!
Hillrise Huskies rock! We are finished with
Winter MAP testing for grades 2-5—phew! The
students did a fabulous job trying their best and
persevering! As the first semester comes to a
close, teachers will be assessing for report cards.
Please help your child(ren) stay “in the moment” by
still having a good bedtime and a good breakfast J!
The weather is getting colder; December is
here! Just a reminder that we will have outdoor
recess and Walking Club as long as the
temperature is about 20 degrees or higher and as
long as the walking path and blacktops are not icy.
Please be sure to send your child with the
necessary winter apparel, gloves and a hat are very
helpful!
Happy Holiday Season!

Make-up Days for Missed School Days
The Elkhorn Board of Education has built in two makeup days to the
calendar in the event that school is canceled due to inclement
weather (snow days). The first makeup day is scheduled for April 15,
2016. This date will become a vacation day if there are no missed school
days prior to April 1.
If there are two or more missed school days prior to April 1, students will
also have a makeup day on May 20, 2016. This day will become a
vacation day if there are one or fewer missed days prior to April 1—moving
the last day of school to May 19.
The first two missed days will be made up; in the event of three or more
snow days the administration will reevaluate the calendar at that time.
Coming soon. . .
The Hillrise PTO is putting together a cookbook. We ask that you start
gathering your favorite recipes. Information about how to submit recipes will
come home in January.
