Married in 1965 or in 1990, these husbands and wives have faithfully lived the Sacrament of Matrimony, providing for the Church and for the world an example of divine love. By their faithfulness, by their sacrifice, and by their forgiveness of each other, they are living signs of the love that Jesus Christ has for all of us, His Church. From our own Cathedral parish, we celebrate with three couples who have reached their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2015. Our congratulations and are prayers are with Jean and Leslie Dorsinville, golden jubilarians, and with John and Sherri Spellman and Bill and Deborah Wade, silver jubilarians. May God continue to bless you with many more happy years together as husband and wife! BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL 2015 We begin this weekend the Bishop’s Annual Appeal through which each one of us is invited to offer our financial and spiritual assistance for our Bishop and the ministry of the Church throughout the Diocese of Savannah. “Give with a Joyful Heart;” that is the theme of this year’s campaign. The Diocesan goal is $2,600,000. As a parish, we are being asked to contribute $94,435. This money which you generously contribute will help the Bishop provide the Church in South Georgia with support for Seminarians to the Priesthood, education and faith formation for children, youth and young adults, and college students, social services for the poor and those in need, communications and technology, and essential ministries for migrants, Hispanics and Black Catholics. Every year the parishioners of the Cathedral respond enthusiastically to the Bishop’s request for help. We have always met and exceeded our goals. Last year we gave $133, 640 towards a goal of $86,411. That was terrific! But do you know that money was contributed by 278 of our 1200 registered households, or 23.38% of our parish. It is so important that we all participate in this appeal. Whatever you can give, as a pledge or a single gift, please give and support our Bishop. I know that we will all do our part. I thank you for your continued support, and may God bless you! Sincerely yours in Christ, Rev. J. Gerard Schreck Rector Adult Faith Enrichment Getting to Know Jesus - Six Weeks with the Bible Series will commence on February 17 and run through March 31. Page 5 Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time During these dark winter days, our God calls us here to witness the example, set by Jesus. Gathered as we are in the warmth and light of this building, what do we do to bring that warmth and light outside with us? Let us pray today that we move beyond our daily drudgery to mission, inspired by the energy of Jesus. Photo By Mary Clark Rechtiene Tuesday, February 10, is the feast day of St. Scholastica.
