RRA Travel Committee: Passport Dinner Program
Once per month, the RRA Travel Committee selects a restaurant for SwRI, SwRC Federal Credit Union, and Texas BioMedical
Research Center employees and their family members and/or guests to meet up, enjoy foods from different countries, experience
the diversity and culture of different lands, learn a little something about the country being “visited”, while getting to know each
other. Restaurants are selected for their food (of course), atmosphere & décor, and entertainment. Each person attending is given a
“passport” so they can keep notes of their travels. A travel sticker is given at every dinner for attendees to place in their passport. At
their tenth dinner, they receive a Passport Dinner – World Traveler pin. Several people are getting close to receiving their pins: Terry
Davison (Div 03) and husband, Del, will receive their pins at their next dinner; and Alan Lowry (Div 01) and his wife, Molly, are right
behind them. A total of just over 70 people have attended these dinners and this list grows a little bit each time. The dinners are
usually between 10 to 20 people so everyone gets a chance to talk to one another. Be sure to watch your global announcements
for information and flyers to the next one!

Take Care of Your Growing Credit Card Debt! Amateur Radio Club-New Technology
Amateur radio exists because people like to explore new technology.
Catastrophic flooding in Ohio in 1913 led to the first use of amateur
radio in the role of disaster response communications. On April
18, 2013, this anniversary was noted during World Amateur
Radio Day, as the International Amateur Radio Union recently
commemorated the first 100 years of ham radio volunteers using
new technology to improve communications across a community.
On May 13, 2013, new technology in amateur radio was again in
the headlines as NASA announced the expected launch in 2014
of the AMSAT Fox-1 cube satellite. http://amsat.org/pipermail/
ans/2013/000719.html This orbiting VHF/UHF repeater will
include several operating modes that will be easily accessible
with portable equipment.

Employees can purchase and print discounted tickets right at their desk to Six Flags, Sea World, and Schlitterbahn via
the RRA website. Please note this is the only way to purchase tickets. The RRA Store no longer has them on hand to
