September 2016 - Capital City Muskies Inc
Volume 33, Issue 9
September 2016
Prez Sez
I would like to thank all of the people that attended last month’s
On the Water Meeting, with the high water temperatures and
hectic schedules of summer; I thought we had a very good
turnout and response to the meeting and Lure Swap. If you did
not get rid of all the lures that you would have liked, keep in
mind that we are always looking for donations for our Garage
Sale in our booth at the Wisconsin Fishing Expo. We will start
collecting donations this winter.
September General Meeting
The next general member meeting will
be September 12 @ 7:00 PM. The
meeting will be held at the 5100 Bar in
McFarland, WI.
Adam Glickman of Honest Musky Guide
Service will give us the up to date
While on the topic of donations, I would like to thank all of the
information on the bite in Northwestern
club members that donate their time, talents, and gifts to the
Wisconsin.
club. We are not paid to do this, we are strictly a volunteer
organization and generosity, selflessness, and dedication is our
lifeblood. We have numerous members that take a lot of time
out of their busy lives to serve the club either as officers, board
members, running outings/events, coordinating & assisting in stocking of fingerlings, or donating lures or
beautiful handmade lures and fishing accessories. We are truly grateful and appreciative for all of you that give
back to the club. There are three other people that I would like to acknowledge; Dana, Luke, Jr. and Lauren,
thank you for sharing your husband/daddy with the club. Being President of CCMI is an absolute pleasure but it
doesn’t go without nights away from home and time away from the family. I appreciate the sacrifices that my
family makes and I couldn’t do it without the support & encouragement from my beautiful kids and my
amazing wife of now 9 years (September 8th).
If you are interested in getting more involved in the club and have the time and/or desire to give back to the
club, you will have the opportunity this fall. We will be holding our Annual election and we will have openings
for at-large Board Member positions and we are also looking for a new membership Chairman. If you have any
interest in joining the board or an interest in the Membership Chairman role, please contact me and I would be
happy to discuss it with you.
As you are reading this column, I will be preparing to make my debut on the Professional Musky Tournament
Trail (PMTT). Fellow CCMI Member Scot Junge asked me to fish the Madison event with him and we’re going
to give it a go and see how we can do. I had always hoped to participate in a PMTT event someday and I am
really excited to be doing it with a CCMI member on the Madison Chain. Hopefully we can find a little home
field advantage. I wish all CCMI members participating in this event or any tournament for that matter, the best
of luck.

Prez Says continued…
The water and weather are still plenty warm now but I can’t help but think that the next time I am writing a Prez
Sez column, there will be color in the trees, football on TV, and we’ll all be talking about the quickly
approaching fall bite.
Here’s to a strong finish to your summer and a strong start to the fall season; I hope you catch a monster,

Membership Report
Brandon Nontelle / fshnhnt@hotmail.com / (580) 481 – 0687
Hi members! The dog days of summer have rolled on but there are cool days ahead. I’ve already seen an
increase in the number of rigs around the local landings as the temps are stabilizing a bit. I look forward to
hearing all the fishing stories from the northern adventures through the hot months as our monthly meetings
start up again at 5100.
We have three new member added to our reports since last month, please welcome Keith Addy of Madison,
Mike Gullickson of Colfax, and David Bartelt of Stoughton when you have the chance.
As always please send me any questions or concerns in regards to your memberships and I look forward to
seeing you all on the lakes.
Ranger Boat Raffle Results
At the end of the 2016 National Championship Musky Open on August 19 - 21, the drawing for the two fullyrigged Ranger Angler boats rigged with Mercury outboards were awarded. The Capital City Chapter of
Muskies, Inc. sold tickets for the boat at the Wisconsin Fishing EXPO last February at the Alliance Energy
Center and that winner was John Horn of Waunakee, Wisconsin.
The other boat that was awarded to an angler in the tournament was won by Jim Peters of Prairie du Sac,
Wisconsin. Congrats to those anglers.
For results of the tournament catches, you can visit the Musky Hunter web site for complete details. The link is
http://www.muskyhunter.com/forums/ under the thread “Mathison’s Five Muskies Earn Victory In National
Championship Musky Open”.

This fish was an epic battle for her as the musky jumped

Nick Pierick- Release Chairman / npierick@yahoo.com / (608) 354-3822
The local area lakes have been mostly unfishable for the past few weeks. So, not as many catches to report.
However, many are making their trips up north and some big fish are still being registered. Shout out this month
goes to Brad Nelson with 6 fish over 45” (2 of which were over 50) on his trip to LOTW.
As I write this, water temps are on their way back down. And with any luck we’ll be good to go for the rest of the
year! As a reminder, if you catch a 45”+ fish that you would like to register for the replica contest, please send me an
electronic copy of the photo to the email address above and register the fish in the Lunge Log.
