Bulletin-Mar 31, 13 - Sacred Heart Parish
Dear Parishioners,
Reflection for this weekend:
Happy Easter!! He is risen!! Alleluia!! This day is the greatest of all days for Christians. After 2000 years, it comes as
no surprise to us. We have been preparing for it throughout the Lenten season. And, yet the message is no less powerful and
even shocking.
As the Gospel reading for the Easter Vigil tells us “At daybreak on the first day of the week the women … found the stone
rolled away from the tomb; but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” They did find out from two
angels, and multiple appearances of the Risen Lord that Jesus did in fact raise from the dead. It was not easy for many of His
followers to believe at first. It seems it is still not easy for our world to believe. If the world knew and believed this message
and all that it means for humanity, it would be a much different place.
And so, we know our task as disciples of Christ Jesus. As our recent popes have been telling us, now is a time for a new
evangelization. Our world seems to have fallen to secularism, relativism, and many other isms of our time. None of these
can bring humanity lasting help, happiness, or eternal salvation. God is calling on us remaining practicing Catholic
Christians to re-evangelize the world with the message of God’s love, presence, and salvation in our Risen Lord Jesus Christ.
We start by re-evangelizing ourselves. Celebrate the amazing life-changing truth of Easter. Let it sink in. Contemplate what
our life would be like without any promise of anything beyond the grave. What would life be like without hope? Sadly, too
many people in the world live like this today. Risen Lord Jesus, please increase our Faith, Hope, and Charity that we may
help bring the message of God’s love to the world.
Rest in Peace

This week in RCIA…..
On this Easter Sunday in 2013, we
welcome our NEW Catholics who have
received and/or completed the sacraments of
initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and
Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.
Mike Stanfield and Laura Tays from Sacred Heart Parish
journeyed with Molly Myracle, Keri Gorman, Nicole
Iatropoulus, and Kurt Strullmyer from St. Anthony Parish
over several months of learning and understanding how God
is calling each of them to new life. Like each of us, it is a
journey where along the way we continue to learn, we
continue to understand, we struggle, and we celebrate all the
blessings God presents.
These new members of our parish will now enjoy a
period of “mystagogy”…… that is a time of reflection, more
learning, and continued understanding of what they have
started. Please continue to pray for each of them and their
families. Make them feel welcome, and invite them to join
with you in the ministries you share with the parish.
