ST. THOMAS THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Fourth Sunday of Easter
Cuarto Domingo de Pascua
WelcomeBishopGeraldR.Barnes!!!
This weekend we welcome our bishop to our parish. A visitation from him is a very
special event in the life of our community. He is our connection to the church universal throughout our
world, with our beloved Pope Francis, and all the parishes in the Diocese of San Bernardino. It is
important for us to remember that we are part of a church that spans the globe and has over a billion
members. When we participate in the celebration of the Eucharist we connect with all of them through
our Risen Lord but most especially when we celebrate with our Bishop presiding.
Besides being the one who connects us with all the Catholics throughout our diocese and world he also
is the bridge between the church today and the church of the past. The of ice and role of bishop goes
back to the beginning of the church. They are seen as the successors of the Apostles in their leadership
and guidance of the Church. Bishop Barnes is the Chief Priest of the diocese and all priests serving in
the diocese look to him for leadership. He must give each of us serving the community the canonical
right to act as a priest on his behalf in the diocese. This is called being granted the faculties to celebrate
the sacraments and act as Pastors or Administrators of any parish. Deacons also look to the Bishop for
their faculties to serve the community they are assigned to and to celebrate the sacraments and other
liturgical celebrations they are able to be presider.
Bishop Barnes is here to witness the workings of our parish as a place of catechesis, education,
outreach to those in need, a community that worship together, and a place where all are welcome and
all are cared for. He is here to listen to all and to grasp the depth of our commitment to the Lord and
the care of His people. I know that he will ind a welcome here and he will be open to all. We are a very
gifted community with many talents and abilities that are shared with our parish and local civil
community. St. Thomas is a great parish to be part of. We do our best to serve the local people of God.
We must be open to the guidance that Bishop Barnes will give us, because we are not perfect.

Concessions made available by the Youth Ministry
In 2003, high-school football coach Bob Ladouceur (Jim Caviezel)
and his De La Salle Spartans have just completed an incredible 151
consecutive victories and 12-straight state championships. While the
team's seniors receive offers from colleges all over the country, the
advancing juniors look forward to making their mark.
However, beloved "Coach Lad" has a brush with calamity, while the
Spartans face their most-challenging, most- unpredictable season yet.
