Know the school’s attendance policy: There are three types of absences: • Waived – does not count toward absence limit (Ex: absence with a doctor’s note) • Excused – parent’s note) counts toward absence limit (Ex: absence with a • Unexcused – counts towards absence limit Four or more absences a semester is considered excessive. At 10 absences a student and their parent will be referred to Clark County TPEC (Truancy Prevention Education Class). More to know about Attendance If a student misses more than half a class, they will be considered absent for that class. A student will receive ASL after three instances of showing up to first block class after 7:50. Consequences of Poor Attendance • • • • Failure of a class Driver’s license revoked or not issued Work permit may be revoked Parents may be prosecuted for violation of Indiana Compulsory School Attendance Law : To be successful you must be organized and prepared Use your School Planner! Helps keep you organized: write class assignments and reminders on the calendar. Used as your hall pass (You may not leave class without it!) Has sporting and extra curricular events listed School rules and policies If lost you may purchase a new planner in the front office for $7. Dress for Success: Dress Code “Do’s” Clean proper fitting clothing Silver Creek Apparel is encouraged Most People won’t think you are successful wearing that! Dress Code “Don’ts” No underwear of any kind is permitted to show while standing or sitting. No sleeveless shirts No hats may be worn in the building No clothing promoting alcohol, tobacco, violence, sexual innuendos, etc… No clothing, shorts or skirts, allowed above mid-thigh No coats allowed in classroom High School is training for Life! Attendance and dress are not only important now, but will also help you succeed in a job later in life. Make putting forth your best effort and working with enthusiasm a habit now and you will find much success in the things you attempt.
