BIOGAS Upgrading BIOMETHANE Production - TPI
BIOMETHANE
Green and Valuable Resource
In-house production of Biomethane is
an eco-friendly and cost-effective
resource that offers interesting
opportunities in order to improve
agricultural incomes, reducing, in the
meantime, their environmental impact. Biogas is a valuable resource which
allows you to turn waste into a versatile
source of energy, reducing our global
dependence on fossil fuels.
BIOGAS UPGRADING

The excess of agricultural products,
as well as manure, sewage sludges,
household wastes, are ideal raw
materials for the biogas production.
That’s why Biomethane – obtained
through Biogas refining - has enormous
potential, being the only renewable
energy source that can be used for
many commercial uses. The end
product of a Biogas Upgrading plants

contains more than 99% methane
and is available for vehicle fuel or to
be fed into the natural gas grid as well as
used for power generation.Biomethane
production has become even more
convenient with the implementation,
in each European Country, of the UE
Directive 2001/77 regarding the
promotion of electricity produced from
renewable energy sources.

TECNO PROJECT INDUSTRIALE
TECNO PROJECT INDUSTRIALE is
an Italian company which provides
solutions for the Industrial Gas Markets
from Beverage Industry to any other
Gas Application since 1987.
Specialized in gas treatment and
purification - biogas, biomethane,
carbon dioxide, compressed air, nitrogen,
hydrogen, nitrous oxide and any other
gas - TPI has been the leader in many of
BIOGAS COMPRESSORS
BIOMETHANE COMPRESSORS
the improvements to existing technology
that now are standards in CO2 industry.
These developments, together with TPI’s
dedication to continuous improvement,
ensure each application is given the
latest technology.
Compression, purification, deoxidation,
production and recovery of gas are the
main fields where TPI developed its
know-how and technology.
Each improvement is based on data
that TPI engineers collected during
installation and commissioning of more
than 500 plants all over the world.
A just-in-time service for Spare Parts
from the After Sale Service ensures
the proper operation of TPI equipment
wherever installed. Pre-assembled
units can be tested at TPI’s workshop
in simulated on-site condition.

BIOGAS UPGRADING HPSM-Sep Membrane
Use of polymeric membranes with a
very high selectivity for Biogas refining
is an innovative and reliable solution
already tested on industrial scale with
significant Biogas stream and high yields.
TPI has developed and industrialized
HPSM technology for its raw Biogas
refining plants in order to obtain levels
of methane purity up to 97% and a
recovery efficiency greater than 99%.
Fermentation of organic solids produces
raw biogas that contains 55-70%
methane, 30-45% carbon dioxide and
traces of sulfur, nitrogen and oxygen.
Refined by a TPI plant it becomes
Biomethane suitable for many industrial
usages or for injection into the natural
gas national grid.
BIOGAS UPGRADING Selective Solvent
Features
• Capacity: from 50 Sm3/h - to 1000 Sm3/h
• Delivery pressure: from 10 up to 30 bar
• Low power consumption
• Execution: Ex Zone 1-2, T2, T3, ATEX
TPI is able to propose different
technologies to produce Biomethane,
refining Biogas. CO2 absorption in a
selective solvent at low pressure is a
Biogas Upgrading technology developed
by TPI and based on the know-how
built-up in manufacturing, for more
than 25 years, plants for production of
Food Grade CO2 starting from different
gas mixture. The solvent used for Biogas
BIOGAS & BIOMETHANE Compressors
application is specifically developed
and enriched with suitable additives.
Biomethane refining through CO2
removal is a simple process which
doesn’t require any desulfurization or
dehydration pre-treatment. This TPI
technology allows to obtain a very high
concentration of methane (above 99%),
with a reduced energy consumption
and a negligible solvent degradation.
Features
• Capacity: from 1000 Sm3/h - to 5000 Sm3/h
• Very low power consumption
• Low steam consumption
• Low washing water consumption
TPI has significant experience in
manufacturing compression skids for
Biogas and Biomethane, starting from
flow rates of 50 Sm3/h up to 1000
Sm3/h.
The Biogas compression unit
treats the raw gas (before the CO2
removal); it consists of a lubricated
compressor, dry running, in special
execution for this type of application.
The Biomethane compression unit
works, instead, with clean gas (after
the removal of H2S and CO2) and is
based on a compressor, single stage
or two-stage, with piston sealing rings
designed for continuous service.
The compression unit includes, if
required, the refrigerant drying unit for
gas refrigeration.
Features
• Capacity: from 50 Sm3/h - to 1000 Sm3/h
• Skid mounted, fast installation
• Pre-wired and tested at workshop
• Full automatic operation
• High reliability, continuous operation

BIOMETHANE Dryers
CO2 is a valuable by-product of Biogas
Upgrading process (not being fuel, it
should be separated from Biomethane
because it lowers the calorific value).
TPI’s Biogas Upgrading plants can be
equipped with the CO2 recovery section
(with efficiency of 99%).
This unit consists of a compression
stage, a drying and purification step,
a refrigeration and liquefaction section
and a cryogenic tank for liquid carbon
dioxide storage, prior to its use in many
industrial field.
TPI produces an innovative line of dryers
for Biomethane which incorporates the
wide experience built-up in construction
of many drying systems for Natural
Gas installed all around the world,
downstream of compressors of different
manufacturers. Based on a mixture
of alumina and molecular sieves, this
kind of dryer allows to dry Biomethane
reaching the lowest levels of residual
moisture. Dryers for Biomethane
produced by TPI are entirely constructed
of stainless steel materials.
