The Staff Parish Relations Committee and Pastor Bob Ruedebusch are excited to announce the hiring of Tami Prostrollo as our new Children’s Ministry Coordinator. Tami will take on newly added responsibilities in the area of Information Technology. Tami is a native and grew up here in Sioux Falls. For the past 14 years she has been on the staff at University United Methodist Church in San Antonio Texas. She has worked in the areas of children and youth, missions and communications. The scripture of Jeremiah 29:11-13 is one of her favorite scriptures. Tami is married to Dan and has two grown sons. She will be starting in early August. Please help us welcome Tami and her family to the First UMC faith community! This year’s theme, “From One Man to Another: Our Choices…Our Legacy” will be presented by our own John Bahnson, Mark Wahlstrom and Tom Van Whye, with Bill Hoff as Moderator. We will be serving a NY strip steak with all the trimmings, deliciously prepared by our Breakfast Chefs. The cost is still $10 per person. Activities begin at 4:00 pm with games and Christian fellowship. Dinner will be served at 6:00. The Season SaturdayAugust 9th: First UMC, Samaritans Feet and Children Opener has become a big part of our Men’s Ministry and we hope to see you again this year. We are asking those of you who have participated in the past to invite someone who has never attended our Men’s Opener to come and be a part of the event and hear our speakers, perhaps someone new to our church. To reserve your spot, or if you have questions, contact Will Archer, Mark Kuehn, Don Ditmanson or the church office. New Pictorial Directory ANNOUNCEMENTS IN REMEMBRANCE OF DIZNEY: The White Roses on the Altar last Sunday were in remembrance of DIZNEY, a 12 1/2 year old Golden Retriever and certified Pet Therapy Dog. Dizney loved volunteering with Carol at Avera-McKennan, Sanford, the Veterans Hospital, and many assisted-living centers, hospice, elementary schools, and libraries in and around Sioux Falls. His sweet gentle demeanor helped cheer patients and staff over the past seven years. Dizney gave away all the love in his golden heart before joining his friends at the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, July 11. Dizney is loved by his family, Carol and Dan Everetts of Harrisburg along with Dandy, Davy and Dino. 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. YOUTH ARE MAKING AND DELIVERING GOODIE BAGS FOR SF FIRE AND RESCUE: There are 10 Fire Stations and 194 Firefighters. We need your help in supplying the following items to make “puppy chow”: 10 boxes of Corn Chex, 10 large bags of M&M’s, 10 boxes of Wheat Chex, 5 bags of Powdered Sugar, 10 boxes of Rice Chex, 10 bags of Chocolate Chips, 5 large containers of mixed nuts, 5 large containers of Peanut Butter, 10 bags of pretzels. Other options to donate: Cookies, brownies and other goodies that you think the fire fighters would like. If you are interested in donating supplies please e-mail Ali at mccormicka@sfumc.org. We are looking forward to blessing the firefighters. ONE WORSHIP SERVICE ON OCTOBER 5TH: On Sunday October 5 we will be having One Worship Service on that day at 10:00 a.m. We will be celebrating World Communion Sunday as one church family as well as receive our Missional Initiative Consultation Report. Please put this important change on your calendar on your phone or at home! AUGUST 1ST CONSTRUCTION: The North Parking Lot will not be available for the next 6 months starting August 1 due to Construction at The Arch. The Arch has contracted with our Trustees to use this parking lot. If you have further questions please contact the church office or Rod Mader. RADIO/ARGUS SPONSORSHIPS: The 2015 Radio & Argus Ad sign-up sheets are now available on the Buzz Board. KIDSTOP: Volunteers are Welcome!! We are also looking for donations of crafty things like glue, markers, construction paper, etc. for the upcoming school year, plus empty tuna cans. WEDDED BAND will meet August 6th at 1:00 PM in Room #304 to join KIDSTOP for an afternoon of activities with the kids. Please bring a 1/2 dozen cookies to share. (Adult chairs will be provided) MAKING SENSE OF THE BIBLE - REDISCOVERING THE POWER OF SCRIPTURE TODAY: Classes will be offered on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday’s during the Noon Hour.
