The Company
A global company with multiple locations, including
remote offshore drilling sites, RigNet believes they
can transform their management style from reactive
to proactive by harnessing real-time data and
analysis. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, RigNet
is an oil field services company who specializes in
telecommunications.
With 700 employees, and 500 SAP Business One users, they required one single, integrated business
management solution that could manage their operations on a global scale.
Rising Faster and Drilling Deeper into
Data with zedSuite
While reviewing their existing business management solution, Microsoft Navision, RigNet and their
auditors were finding significant risks and large gaps in maintaining their security. Their antiquated
version of Microsoft Navision had to be updated or a new solution had to be implemented in its place.
RigNet partnered with Trenegy, a management consulting firm, and a leader in equipping global
energy and manufacturing companies for growth and change with the right technology. Through the
process of elimination, Trenegy narrowed the section down to an upgrade of their existing Microsoft
Navision solution, or SAP Business One. “At the end of the day, we scored all of our criteria and as far
as product, support, long-term viability and overall costs were concerned, SAP Business One came out
at the leading solution for RigNet’s business
needs,” stated Justin Gibson, Manager,

and implementing SAP Business One, RigNet required multiple add-ons and integration points to

The Energy to Integrate and Innovate
With offices that span across the globe, 33 databases, and 500 employees using SAP Business
One, RigNet executives required a way to receive requests for approvals and activities and other
items requiring executive attention, without having to log into every database. The question
was how does RigNet integrate their add-on solutions to SAP Business One and have their
critical information flow back and forth into a single location? “At the time, we didn’t really have
a good answer for meeting RigNet’s development needs, recalls Justin, Trenegy. “We knew that
because of their complex business needs, SAP Business One couldn’t do it alone, but Vision33
and zedSuite had the resource pool and the experience to pull off what we needed, quickly.”
To focus any and all development on a single, integrated platform, zedSuite installed zed
Interconnect. The powerful Web API solution meant that RigNet could keep their familiar
systems in place – including business critical Authorized Expenditure software – and provide
complete synchronization of data between SAP Business One and their existing solutions. zed
Interconnect now acts as an overarching umbrella that looks into all 33 databases to receive and
transact critical information in real-time.
To provide RigNet executives a 360 degree view of all legal entities, databases and client sites,
zedSuite installed zed Employee Portal. The self-service portal was customized as a dashboard
so all critical information was published on a single web page. This allowed users to review their
activity tasks, any approval waiting for them, and all legal entities, all on a single screen.
