1963 sprach John F. Kennedy auf dem Balkon des Rathauses
Schöneberg diesen Satz, der um die Welt ging. Westberlin war
eine Insel, ein paar Quadratkilometer freie Welt mitten im sogenannten Ostblock. Mit seiner berühmten Rede wurde Kennedy
zum Hoffnungsträger vieler Menschen und bis heute steht dieser
Satz symbolisch für das unbeirrte Festhalten an einem der wichtigsten Menschenrechte: der Freiheit.
John F. Kennedy spoke these words on the balcony of Schöneberg
Town Hall in 1963 and they reverberated around the world. West
Berlin was an island, a few square kilometres of free world in the
midst of the so-called Eastern bloc. With his famous speech, John F.
Kennedy became a beacon of hope for many people and to this day
these words symbolically represent an unwavering commitment to
one of the most important human rights: freedom.
Heute, 50 Jahre später, ist Berlin die Hauptstadt des vereinigten
Deutschland und mitten in Europa ein Ort dieser Freiheit.
Today, 50 years later, Berlin is the capital of a united Germany and
a place of this very freedom in the heart of Europe.
Das John F. Kennedy Haus am Washingtonplatz – dem neuen
Zentrum Berlins – ist daher nicht nur eine Hommage an den großen
amerikanischen Präsidenten, sondern mehr noch an die Freiheit
jedes Einzelnen.

Seine Architektur: zukunftsweisend
Das John F. Kennedy Haus liegt an einem der spannendsten Plätze
Berlins. Und dort überzeugt es mit seiner ausdrucksstarken Architektur der renommierten Architekten Auer + Weber (München). Die abwechslungsreiche Fassade besticht durch hochwertige Materialien
wie Muschelkalk und gebürstetes Aluminium. Im Inneren nehmen
die elegante Metallverkleidung der Wände und der Boden aus Naturstein das Spiel der Materialien auf. So empfängt die Lobby Besucher mit einem beeindruckenden Raumgefühl. In den Büro­etagen
machen die Deckenhöhe von bis zu drei Metern, bodentiefe Fensterflächen und Flurwände mit Glasausschnitt das Haus luftig und transparent und schenken dem Sonnenlicht alle Möglichkeiten.

John F. Kennedy Haus is situated in one of the most exciting places in
Berlin where it stands imposingly with its expressive architecture by
the renowned architects Auer + Weber (Munich). The varied façade is
impressive thanks to high-quality materials such as coquina and brushed aluminium. On the inside, the elegant metal cladding on the walls
and the natural stone floors continue the play on materials. Accordingly, the lobby welcomes visitors with an impressive sense of space.
On the office floors, the ceiling height of up to three metres, full-length
windows and corridor walls with glass sections make the building
light and transparent, creating all kinds of opportunities for the sunlight to work its magic.
Seine Nachhaltigkeit: vorbildlich
Das John F. Kennedy Haus ist ein zukunftsorientiertes Green Building. Die Vorgaben der gültigen Energieeinsparverordnung
(EnEV) werden maßgeblich übererfüllt. Aber
auch bei der Wahl der Materialien steht die
Nachhaltigkeit im Fokus: So werden beim
Bau bevorzugt Materialien aus der Region eingesetzt und die verwendeten Hölzer
stammen aus nachhaltiger Forstwirtschaft.
Nach seiner Fertigstellung wird das John F.
Kennedy Haus von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) als
Green Building zertifiziert werden.

John F. Kennedy Haus is a future-oriented
Green Building. The standards specified in
the German Energy Conservation Regulations (EnEV) have been surpassed to a considerable extent. In terms of the choice of
materials, the focus is also very much on sustainability: during the construction phase,
favoured materials from the region are being
used and all the timber is sourced from sustainably managed forests.
Once it is completed, John F. Kennedy Haus
will be certified by the German Sustainable
Building Council (DGNB) as a Green Building.
