Annual Cook-Off at its October 21 meeting.
As usual, tea and coffee will be provided.
This year’s theme will be...
Chocolate !!!
Dark chocolate... milk chocolate... white
chocolate... chocolate cake, pudding,
candies, or pies, etc.
The treats of the evening will be
desserts that tickle your tongue and melt
in your mouth.
We will have two top picks, one from the
judges and the other from the members.

Saturday October 17
HVSC and Trailsweepers bring you
another chance to play in the trees
and on the zip lines at Catamount
Aerial Adventure Park.
We will meet at Catamount base
lodge in Hillsdale, NY at 8:30 am
sharp. Please arrive on time, as you
will need to be fitted for a harness
and hear a safety talk before going
on to the course.
Wear comfortable clothes, dress in
layers, and wear sneakers or hiking
boots (no sandals or loafers). If you
have long hair, keep it tied back.
They have gloves, but you may want
to bring your own.
Time in the trees is 9am to 12 noon.
We may stop for lunch afterwards at
Four Brothers Pizza.

at the Hopewell Depot. To calculate distance to your destination,
please note it is 13 miles from Hopewell Depot to the Walkway
Over the Hudson. For example, if you are at mile marker 8 in

from the Walkway Over the Hudson.

The Trip Committee strongly suggests
participants purchase trip insurance.
The price for trip insurance runs approximately
7% of the trip cost. An option to purchase trip
insurance “for any reason” may be available.
If you are interested in trip insurance please let
the trip leader know at the time of sign up.
• Minimum cancellation penalty is $100 for week long trips and $25 for shorter trips.
• Cancellation requests must be in writing and will take effect the date they are received by the trip leader.
• Penalties vary from trip to trip. Anyone who cancels a trip will be assessed penalties as per our contract with the
vendor. Whatever the club loses, the person who cancels will lose plus the $100 cancellation penalty, however, the
penalty will not exceed the total cost of the trip.
• Refunds will not be issued until after the final accounting of the trip.

The 2015-16 ISkiNY Gold Pass is a fully transferable pass redeemable for one lift ticket per day at all
Ski Areas of New York (SANY) member ski resorts.**
The pass has the benefits of:
• No blackout dates*
• Is valid all holidays and weekends
• Transferable - loan it to a business associate, friend or relative
• Good All Season!
* Except for private ski clubs who may not accept the pass on weekends and holidays
(such as Holimont).
**List of participating ski areas is as per the 2014-2015 season. The final list of participating ski areas
is subject to change and it is not uncommon for one or two to be added or subtracted each year.
We will have a full list here for 2015-16 in late fall.
There are very few of these highly coveted passes available and when they are sold out they are
sold out for the season. It is first purchase first served!

Hiking & Biking in the Hudson Valley
Let’s get ready for ski season with some
fall hiking. Pat Marsh will lead a series
of 4 hikes beginning October 10. The
hikes will be moderate and between 4-6
miles. There are also 7 good hikes with
the Trailsweepers beginning with their
picnic hike on September 27th. The

Waiver and Release of Liability
In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in Hudson Valley Ski Club, Inc. (HVSC) sponsored
activities, related events, or trips, each of the undersigned:
1. Agrees that prior to participating, he/she will inspect any facilities and equipment to be used, and if he/she
believes anything is unsafe, he/she will immediately advise a club officer of such condition(s) and refuse to
participate.
2. Acknowledges and fully understands that each club member will be engaging in activities that involve risk of
serious injury, including permanent disability and death, and causing severe social and economic losses which
might result not only from his/her own actions, but inactions or negligence of others, the club rules, the rules
of play, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, that there may be other risks
not known or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.
3. Assumes all risks and accepts all responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability or
death, even if caused, in whole or in part, by the negligence of the “releases” named below.
4. Releases, waives, discharges and covenants not to sue the Hudson Valley Ski Club, Inc., its affiliates, their
respective administrators, directors, agents, officers, and other employees of the organization, other club
members, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and leasers of premises used to
conduct club activities, premises or event inspectors, surveyors, underwriters, consultants and other persons or
entities which give recommendations, directions or instructions or engage in risk evaluation or loss control
activities regarding the program or premises, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “Releases”, from
demands, losses or damages on account of injury, including death or damage to property whether caused or
alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releases or otherwise.
Code of Conduct
I understand camaraderie among the members is a crucial component of HVSC’s purpose and enhances the
enjoyment of club activities by everyone. My conduct as a club member impacts the public’s view of our club

sexual harassment and intimidating behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated; c) I will obey all federal,
state and local laws while participating in club functions and the rules and authorities of establishments where
functions are held; and d) I will support and promote safety at all club-sponsored functions.
I understand and accept that violations of this “Code of Conduct” can result in disciplinary action up to and
including termination of membership.
