Residence Hall students will
need some specific items in order
to successfully connect to the Internet
in their on-campus room. In addition to
an Ethernet card, standard on most new
machines, you’ll need to invest in an RJ45
Ethernet cable long enough to reach the jack
in your room. Follow the Residential Computing
(ResCom) Instructions for Internet Set-Up:
http://www.rescom.psu.edu/
If you will be venturing to live off-campus,
inquire if Internet or wireless service is
provided. If not, contact the local phone and
cable companies for information on DSL or
Cable Internet options.

Think Before You Spend
Penn State’s Computer Store has been
giving students access to educationally discounted hardware, software,
and accessories for 20 years. Commercially available titles, such as
Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative
Suite, are available to you at discounted prices. Plus, you can save big
bucks on laptops and desktops.
The Computer Store works with
vendors to get special academic
prices, which are then passed on to
you. These products are the same as
if you had purchased them from a
major retailer, but you are saving
more money in the process.
You can view a complete list of the
products available to you on the
Computer Store’s Web site or contact
their knowledgeable, non-commissioned consultants with questions
about your technology needs at:
(814)865-2100 or 800-251-9281
