Volume 42, May, 2009 234 N. Chestnut, Olathe, KS 913-764-2121 www.chestnutfinearts.com From Brad Zimmerman, Executive Director I am very pleased to say that our most recent production of “Give Me That Old Time Religion” was completely SOLD OUT! In fact, on top of running the show for five weeks, we added three performances and STILL had waiting lists. We also traveled south to perform the show to a sold-out audience for the City of Paola. It was a great run! Our next production, “Babes in Hollywood”, is a tribute to the great Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney – filled with one great song after another. You will love it, I guarantee! And summer brings “How to Eat Like a Child”, a lively show filled with some of our area’s most talented young performers. I’ll look forward to seeing you at these great shows! The first week of August, we’re bringing back the popular production, “Back in the Saddle Again”. It sold out in December, so if you didn’t get to see it (or want to see it again!), make your reservations now for a great evening of country music! I’m especially excited about what’s happening during the few weeks after “Back in the Saddle” – we are RENOVATING and EXPANDING! And we’re also installing an improved sound system for your enjoyment! The expansion will give us more “elbow room” and add a second aisle for easier movement within the theatre. We’re also adding more tiers, so all seats will be a standard chair height … no more “stools”. I want to personally thank so many of you who have generously donated to help finance this project. I think the cost will be well worth the results. YOUR comfort and enjoyment at the Chestnut is my #1 priority. When you leave the theatre, it warms my heart to see your smiles and hear your kind words … THAT is MY reward! See you at the theatre! Babes in Hollywood The Music Of Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney May 21 – June 21 Starring Julie O’Rourke, Julie Shaw, Kipp Simmons & David Thompson Directed by Brad Zimmerman Babes in Hollywood salutes the legendary musical careers of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney! Get ready to swing, sway and swoon to the most glorious songs of the 20th century. You’ll thrill to such American classics as Over the Rainbow, You Made Me Love You, Easter Parade, But Not for Me, The Man Who Got Away, On the Sunny Side of the Street, Meet Me in St. Louis, That’s Entertainment, and many more!
