Virtual Job Fair (VJF) Job Seeker ‘How-To’ Register for VJF These are step by step instructions to assist job seekers in registering online for a VJF 1. Log onto http://fingerlakes.virtual-jobfairs.com 2. IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ATTENDING THE VIRTUAL JOB FAIR: Select Job Seeker How To – at the top of the page, then scroll down and enter your email address, and a password you create and click Register a New Account. 3. Complete the requested information (first name, last name, address, etc.); create a password and write it down somewhere safe; select your career level, years of experience, degree/level attained, currently/last worked in and looking to work in. NOTE: You make select multiple categories in the Looking to Work in fields by holding down the control key and making additional selections. 4. Review the “Terms of Use” and select “I Agree” and enter the security code, and then select “Create Account.” You will then be directed to the Resume section of the Virtual Job Fair. IF YOU PARTICIPATED PREVIOUSLY in the Fingerlakes Virtual Job Fair, Select Job Seeker How To – at the top of the page, then scroll down and enter the email address and password you used previously and click Log In. You will be directed to a screen to input your email address, password and the Security Code that is needed to reactivate your profile. This security code will be sent to your email address automatically, so minimize the Virtual Job Fair registration screen, go to your email account and copy the security code, maximize the Virtual Job Fair registration screen and enter the security code. Then click the activate profile tab. You will then be asked to review your profile, and agree to terms of service. 5. Upload your resume(s) or complete the resume information using the “resume wizard” in order to apply to any job openings. Follow the steps to upload your resume, using an original MS Word document in .doc or docx OR a pdf format. If you can’t upload a resume, the wizard has several screens you need to complete in order to build your resume for use on the VJF. Please complete all sections with accurate information. This will be what employers see when you post your resume to their job openings. Once the initial contact information is entered your basic resume template will be created, and you can log back in to Update Resume and add additional information to complete your VJF Wizard Resume. 6. At this point of completion, you will also be able to view exhibitor booths for available job openings, search jobs, update your profile or update your resume. Click on the exhibitor’s booth icon to enter their booth and view job openings, to can click the Apply Tab to attach your resume to that job opening. You can also search the entire system by Exhibitor or Industry, to find a specific job that meets your specifications. 7. Remember your username and password as you can check for new businesses and new job postings throughout the entire VJF. If you forget your password, select “forgot password” during the current VJF and your password will be e-mailed to you. 8. The Job Seeker survey will ‘pop-up’ after the second log in when you leave the VJF. Please fill out the survey and let us know how we can improve the Virtual Job Fair.
