The Vulnerable Children’s Service meets the needs of children newly referred including those in need of
protection. Service delivery through Child in Need plans and Child Protection plans is also managed by this
service.
We are looking for a Team Manager who is committed to delivering better outcomes for children, to take
responsibility for day to day management and ensure the authority discharges its duty to provide a social
work service to the community and to also ensure that assessments are carried out and ensure that
vulnerable children, young people and their families are protected through the use of statutory powers and
supported through the provision of family support

Sport & Leisure Development Services require Casual Sport Coaches to join our existing pool of casual staff
to deliver sport and physical activity sessions across the borough.
Our Service currently provides coaching sessions to schools and the community and is looking for people
who are suitably experienced and qualified to work on their own initiative and unsupervised.
We are looking to employ Sports Coaches in traditional National Governing Body Sports. To widen the range
of sports within our service and therefore will consider Instructors who can deliver diverse activities.
Due to the nature of the job, sessions will be offered to you on an as and when required basis, dependent
upon demand. You will deliver quality sports specific and/or multi skill sessions at schools and community
venues across the borough and provide supervision and assistance to participants. You will uphold all
Health and Safety requirements along with maintaining records and undertaking evaluation sessions

• Hold a National Governing Body Sports Coaching Award at Level 2 or above; or can prove that you
are currently in the process of acquiring your Level 2 qualification.

Working as part of our team that serves the central area of the borough based at our Central Library in
Walsall. You will be required to work alternate Saturdays and one Sunday in every 4 weeks.
You will work as part of a team delivering an efficient and friendly library service from the various
departments
of the Central Library This will include reader services for both adults and children, information and access
to learning through our Peoples Network PC’s and dealing with a wide range of enquiries from our diverse
communities.
You will:
• Deal with enquiries about books, information and access to learning from members of the public
in an efficient, friendly and helpful way and with a high standard of customer care.
• Make computer bookings and assist with the day to operation of The People’s Network computers
in the learning centre.
• Undertake routine clerical and administrative procedures as necessary, including cash handling,
shelving material, processing reader’s requests etc.
• Assist with promotion of the library service including carrying out displays, helping with author
visits and other reading and information events.
You should:
• Be able to demonstrate experience of public library services as a user or previous employment.

As part of the Bookstart scheme which provides books for babies, Walsall Libraries run Cradle Clubs (library
sessions for very young children) at a number of libraries. We are looking for someone who can work for a
few hours a week to help us run Cradle Clubs at Brownhills Library and the Central Library Walsall.
The main duties of the job will be:
• Leading play activities and encouraging babies and carers to join in
• Welcoming carers and babies and keeping a register
• Preparing toys and equipment for the clubs and tidying up afterwards
• Organising refreshments
You will need to be:
• Experienced in looking after children under 2 years old
• Confident about working with groups of very young children and their carers
• Committed to the idea of giving children experience of books from a very early age
• Able to get on well with people
• Flexible in your working arrangements and prepared to undertake some awareness training if
necessary

Integrated Diversion Offender Management (IDOM)
Coordinator

An exciting 2 year secondment opportunity has arisen based within the Walsall Local
Policing Unit (LPU) Offender Management Unit (OMU).
This post is being advertised within the agencies of Safer Walsall Partnership and will
be open to equivalent grade Police/Probation/Health/Local Authority staff. The post
is a two year secondment. This may be extended subject to further funding becoming
available by April 2012.
The opportunity is for a Police Sergeant or Police Staff Equivalent Grade (Band D),
or for appropriately experienced member of a partner agency PCT Band 7, Local
Authority up to SCP 44 and Probation SPO level in the role of Integrated Diversion of
Offender Management Coordinator.
This will involve the multi agency supervision of Prolific Priority Offenders, High
Crime Cause Users, Deter Young Offenders and the Local Diversionary
Management cohort. The successful candidate will act as a direct link with the OMU,
Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Probation, Prisons, NHS, Integrated Young People’s
Support Services and other partners.
The post will report to the Offender Manager Inspector and based at Walsall Police
Station Green Lane for the two year period.

Pay scale range £18,152 -£21,798
This new post will provide comprehensive, flexible and efficient secretarial and
administrative support to the Integrated Diversionary Offender Management (IDOM)
Team and will liaise with senior partnership staff, to include Local authority, PCT and
Housing, Police, Probation, Prisons and Court partners.
The post will report to the Partnership Offender Manager and based at Walsall Police
Station Green Lane for the two year period
