Attention, Dog Owners: Announcements
Announcements Attention, Dog Owners: After worship today, you may want to head over to Dogtoberfest, being held at The Gregory School (3231 N Craycroft Rd.). It’s a carnival for dogs (and an annual fundraiser for Handi-Dogs). Admission tickets are $5 each, with lots of canine activities available, as well as food and drink. Be sure to stop by the St. Mark’s Animal Ministry booth and say hi to our own volunteers! (More info at www.DogtoberfestAZ.org) All Saints’ Sunday is next Sunday, Nov. 2nd: The Bell Banner will be in the courtyard today for you to attach the name of your lost loved ones on a card as a memorial. The Bell Banner will be processed next week, All Saints’ Sunday, Nov. 2nd. The Fine Arts & Crafts Guild is still looking for volunteers to help us out at our Masterpiece Festival on Nov. 1st. We will have a table in the courtyard, again today. We are asking for twohour shifts, and the schedule will be posted at our table to show you what the different shifts will involve. Please consider helping us out. St. Mark’s is well-known for having the best volunteers at an arts & crafts fair in Tucson. GREEN TEAM ANNUAL HOLIDAY COFFEE SALE: Members of the Green Team will be taking orders for the annual coffee sale today and November 2 on the patio between services. Coffee will be delivered November 2 and 9. 12 oz. bags of Fair Trade Organic Coffee are $10.00 each. K-Cups are available – 12 cups for $10.00. Your purchase benefits UMCOR and small sustainable third world farms. Proceeds will be used for “green” projects at St. Mark’s. You’re invited to United Methodist Church of Casa Grande, 1515 N. Trekell Rd., Casa Grande, AZ for Roma Mission in Action on Saturday, Nov. 1st, 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Men, women and youth are invited to a special program with leaders of a Roma Shelter (an international mission interest) in Prague, Czech Republic. Program ends with opportunity for questions followed by a free soup & salad lunch. Reservations required by Oct. 27th. For further program information, contact Bethany Lambrect (blambrecht1225@gmail.com). For lunch reservations, contact Cindey Blaydes (Blaydes@aol.com or 520-723-0347). United Methodist Women will be hosting a craft/bake sale during the Masterpiece Festival on Saturday, Nov. 1st. Any homemade items are greatly appreciated and should be delivered to the library (crafts) or Rooms 17/18 (baked goods) on Friday, October 31st at 9:00 a.m. Contact Priscilla McInnis, with any questions. Next Sunday, Nov. 2nd, children in grades 5-12 are invited to Fellowship Hall immediately following Sunday School hour. You will learn about an exciting new music opportunity. You don’t have to know how to read music or sing. Just show up! Parents, be sure to look for the article in this week’s Messenger for full details. Please mark you calendars and plan to stay for a short 2030 minute program. (Please submit announcements to bulletin@umcstmarks.org.) Announcements continued The Over 50’s Lunch Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4th at The Taste of Texas, 8310 N. Thornydale Rd . Everyone is welcome, especially those new to the church and returning winter visitors. We look forward to seeing you all again. Please also mark your calendars for our Christmas celebration on Thursday, Dec. 11th at Michelangelo’s Restaurant on Magee. (Note change of day for December only.) For reservations, please call Agnes Fisher by noon on Monday, Nov. 3rd. Membership Care Committee is sponsoring a “tablet event.” On the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, the event will be here at St. Mark’s in Room 20 beginning Nov. 8th and 22nd. On the first and third Saturdays it will be at Lifecare Center of Tucson, 6211 N La Cholla, in the Dining Room. The Aquiam, a high school computer club, will participate with us. Anyone interested in learning something about electronic tablets, various APPS that are available, electronic video phone conversations, etc., is welcome. (NOTE: There will be a few ‘extra’ electronic tablets available for you to see/use, if you don’t have one of your own.) Contact David Farnsworth or Kay Hayworth if you have questions. At 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, St. Mark’s annual all-church conference will be held. Everyone is welcome to attend, and leaders and committee members are expected. Our new District Superintendent, Rev. Dottie Escobedo-Frank will be here to preside over the meeting, which will include election of officers for 2015, approval of pastors’ compensation for 2015, membership report, approval of lay servants, and other business. In addition, Rev. Dottie Escobedo-Frank will be leading a discussion on her vision and hopes for the church, and listen to our plans and dreams for St. Mark’s. Also, some Covenant Council items will be presented, as this meeting will take the place of the 11/18/14 Covenant Council meeting, which will not be held. Did You Know... Four members of our St. Mark’s community leave today on a week-long mission trip to Salt Lake City. They will be packaging emergency supply boxes to be shipped to disaster sites throughout the world by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) West Depot. These people need our prayers and encouragement. Please send a card this week. Eldon and Jackie Vickers Sandra Rush EMAIL PRAYER CHAIN prayerchain@umcstmarks.org Thoughts & Prayers Go Out To...
