SNAPDRAGON’S JOKE
In Brisbane is a take-away strip with MacDonald's and
Hungry Jack's restaurants close together. MacDonalds
recently employed a young girl with a Burqa as a play for
the multicultural patronage. It was a disaster with custom
falling off dramatically. It only took three weeks and she
was let go. A week later it was noticed that she was
working at Hungry jacks, in her Burqa still, but this time
their sales were going through the roof. It was a bit of a
mystery and the word got around in Brisbane.
ABC's religious programme, Compass, did an investigation
into it and the only reason they could find for the situation
was that the Burqas were better at Hungry Jacks.

On behalf of the Hinnomunjie Campdraft Association,
I would like to thank all our musterers and workers in
the backyard ( Bluey Commins, Andrew ,Julie and
Travis Sutton, Stuart Stagg, Matt, Sophie and Jade
Clark, Bernard Flannagan, and Ron Connley and their
dogs), who did a great job both days in keeping
everything running smoothly.
Thank you to Alan Quirke for the use of his
machinery to do the ground and Brett Lancaster for
driving it. Thank you to Charles Connley for setting
up and running the PA system. Thank you also to BJ
Thorburn and Jackie Hughes for doing the first aid
over the two days. The Benambra CFA did a fabulous
job in the canteen, with breakfast, lunches and food
all day. The coffee ladies were very popular and the
Omeo Angling Club provided lovely teas both Friday
and Saturday night.
The fish and chips were very popular.
A special thank you to Bruce Commins and his family
for the great run of cattle, without which we could not
have our draft. Many people commented on how good
the cattle were and they certainly appreciated Bruce
allowing us to use them.
There were many comments about how well our draft
ran, the weather was kind to us and there were no
injuries, so it was a good start to the
GCA 2014-15 season.

Peter Gardner - Independent
Candidate for Gippsland East
I have lived and worked in the Ensay and Swifts
Creek districts for 40 years and am now resident in
Bairnsdale. I have been concerned for some time that
the threat of climate change is real and may be far
worse than either the media or the politicians tell us.
Consequently I have been standing for office on a
‘Vote Climate Vote Solar’ ticket at all levels of
government. I have devoted my time and funds to this
process since 2008. I am standing again in Gippsland
East and have a range of policies to provide employment, improved emergency services and public
transport and the changeover to renewable sustainable
energy sources. In particular I also oppose any
unconventional gas or coal projects. More details can
be found on my website at www.petergardner.info
As this is a low budget campaign please spread the
word. I will not be allocating or directing preferences.
