ABOUT MSF FOSTERING SCHEME
NUGGETS FROM THE
BOOK OF GENESIS
The Fostering Scheme from the Ministry of Social and
Family Development (MSF) helps children whose parents
or guardians are unable to look after them; some children
were also neglected, abused or abandoned. Foster care
allows these vulnerable children to be cared for in a warm
and conducive home environment, as well as facilitate the
path towards healing and restoration. Foster parents may
come from different walks of life, but they share a common
goal to make a positive difference to these children’s
lives.
Do contact Heok Gam at loiheokgam@livingstreams.org.
sg to register your interest in the fostering scheme. A
foster parent would be sharing on The Fostering Scheme
and her own testimony on 14 Dec 14, at the Sunday 9am
and 11.15 English Services Please also feel free to contact
MSF at 6354-8799 or visit www.msf.gov.sg/fostering to
learn more about The Fostering Scheme.

COMING UP IN
JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2015
Epiphanies: Life-Changing Encounters
with God
16/1 (Fri, 7:30pm – 9:30pm) &
17/1 (Sat, 9:30am – 12:30pm)
Venue: Prayer Halls A-C
Revd Charlie Cleverly
Throughout the Bible, the lives of people have been
transformed by their encounters with God. Abraham numbered
the stars and was promised fruitfulness. Jacob saw a ladder
stretching up to heaven and knew that God was in the place.
Moses saw a burning bush and was commissioned to bring
God’s people out of bondage. Daniel in exile and captivity was
given favor and influence and saw the end of the world and
‘one like the son of man’. John on Patmos was turned from a
prisoner into a prophet, from a powerless one to be a pastor
to generations.
Building Faith Foundations
(Bap-Confirm Prep for Adults & Teens)
24/1 – 24/5 (16 Sat, 2pm – 4pm @ B2RA)
Pastor Alvin Toh & Team
In a plural society, it is critical that we know the uniqueness
of our Christian faith; distinctiveness in beliefs and calling.
Without a clear understanding of what we believe, who we are
and what we are called to be, we cannot fully appreciate the
marvelous work of God for our salvation. We also cannot live
out our calling as God’s people to a world in need of Christ.
Building Faith Foundations challenges and teaches believers
on what it means to live out their salvation according to
the will and purpose of God for their lives. Topics include
the relevance and authority of Scriptures, the Sovereignty
of God, who Jesus is and how is He different from the
founders of other faiths, the work of the Holy Spirit in our
lives and what it means to be a true worshipper and follower
of Jesus. The course prepares candidates for baptism and
confirmation. It is also open to enquirers who want to find out
more about Christianity as well as mature believers who want
to strengthen their faith foundation.
This seminar will examine life changing encounters with
God in the bible and ask the question: How can we position
ourselves to encounter God today? We will also look at
spiritual disciplines that will keep us in the place of prayer
and revelation.
Romans: God’s Great Renovation
Project
20/1 – 24/2
(5 Tues, 7:30pm – 9:30pm @ PHA-C),
no class on 17/2
Revd Dr Rick Griffith (Professor of OT & NT
Studies, SBC)
How can a God of love send people to hell? Don’t all
religions lead to heaven? Can a non-believing good person
go to heaven? These are common questions asked by both
believers and non-believers. The bible does not only provide
answers to these and other questions, it also helps us to
understand God’s overall plan for the fallen world. God’s plan
includes His choice and salvation of the generation of Israel
alive at Christ’s return, as well as His plan for all believers to
be molded into the likeness of Jesus.

The course looks at ‘God’s Great Renovation Project’ to give
His righteousness to sinful people by faith alone and in
Christ alone. It observes & interprets each chapter of Paul’s
letter to the Romans and how the lessons can be applied to
faith in the 21st Century. It intends to:

• Tunisia (Africa)
In earlier centuries, the Christian Church was widespread,
producing such leaders as Tertullian and Cyprian.
Schism, heresy, failures to put roots deep into the local
culture and to translate the Bible into local languages,
foreign invasions and others brought about its demise.
There are about 500 committed indigenous believers
today, but only one-third of those meet together regularly
for worship. Pray that a living, growing Church might
become a reality again in this land. New believers have
increased and new church groups have come into being
over the past few years. Pray for their continued growth
and discipleship. Unity is an issue that is currently in
need of much prayer. The Church is still a tiny proportion
of the total population. Pray for lasting commitment to
Jesus. Among the increasing numbers of new believers,
pray for safety, encouragement, and effective discipleship
and integration into the body. Pray that Tunisian
believers might overcome their fear of sharing their faith.
There are also probably significant numbers of isolated
and hidden believers – pray for opportunities for their
spiritual growth and fellowship. (Source: Operation World,
