Memories of Blacktown
We were delighted to host the Blacktown
Hospital Reunion on Saturday 15 November.
Thanks to Lynette Steele who organized the
event.
About 50 people attended including former
executive, graduate nurses from the 1960s and
1970s and the hospital’s first matron, Erella
Macaulay AM.
Sweet memories: close up of our special cake.
Slice of history: Dr David Smith (Surgeon) and Erella Macaulay
AM (Matron) cut the celebratory cake.
Together again: Beverley Radmore OAM, Aileen Berry, Anne Birdsey
and Tiiu Lyster.

Golf cause
Tea-ing off: Our team was on hand to support the 2014 NSW Golf Open Charity Luncheon. The Kids West Children's
Charity raised funds in aid of the new Cancer Care Centre at Blacktown Hospital. What’s that, David Simmonds? If that
mockingbird don’t sing…?

Tank ex-stream
 Flushed with success: It
looks a bit like an Esther
Williams (Google it) set, but
it’s not a swimming pool. It’s a
tank for collecting and storing
rainwater to re-use for
irrigation and toilet flushing.
At a whopping 12.5 metres
wide and 3.5 metres deep, it
holds 145,000 litres of water.
That’s enough to fill about 3.5
backyard swimming pools.

work.
 Kitted out: Our team on site keeping an eye on things.
 The crane is this big: Jenny Saunders
has a moment on site.

Big smiles all round on B45 Medical.
Welcome visitors: We’re quickly becoming a major tourist
destination for other hospitals and health services as they drop in
to see what we’ve achieved. This week, we had teams from
Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, Southern Eastern Sydney LHD and
Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick.
