IRead-3 Parent Meeting Rescheduled:
3rd grade students will be taking the IREAD-3 assessment during the Spring testing
window (March 16-18). Students who do not pass the IREAD test will be retained in
3rd grade. We are scheduling an informational meeting to help answer questions and
give you resources to work with to better prepare your child for this assessment. The
first IREAD-3 meeting will be held on Monday, February 9th at 6:00 PM in the
Eastwood Cafeteria.

Student Council News:
Our boxes are snug next to the bottle cap bins in our Commons Area. We are
collecting for our four footed furry friends at the Humane Shelter this month of
Valentine heart hugs. Food is a priority, but they also need food bowls for animals as
well. Whatever we collect will go to the Elkhart County Humane Society at the end
of February. Smencils are also on sale on Friday for $1.00 each.
PTA Corner:
Due to the school closing, our PTA meeting has been rescheduled for this Monday
February 9th at 7:00 PM in the Art Room. We will be discussing photographer
changes for next year. We hope to see you there!
You should find our “Night at the Movies” flyer in the Communication Folders this
week. There will be extras in the office if you should need one. The event will be on
Friday, February 20th and we are asking parents to arrive at 6:30 PM, with the movies
starting at 7:00 PM. This will allow us to have the right movie playing in the right
places, depending on participation for each movie! This is a great way to have a fun,
free family night. We hope to see many of you there!!
Classroom Valentine's parties are coming up. If you would like to participate,
please contact your child’s classroom parent or teacher!!
Mark your calendars for our skating party on February 24th from 5:30-8:00 PM at
Eby Pines. Cost is $4, which includes skate rental.
ISTEP/IREAD Testing Dates:
3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades will be doing ISTEP+ testing March 2-11, and April 27May 8. 3rd grade will do IREAD testing March 16-18. Please do not schedule
appointments during these testing windows. It is vital that your students be present
for the testing.

“Rise Above the Mark”:
The documentary “Rise Above the Mark” will be presented on Thursday, February 19th at the Lerner in Elkhart
from 6:00-8:00 PM. “Rise Above the Mark” is a documentary for parents, teachers, administrators and the
public who care about providing a quality public education for all students. The documentary will be followed
by a panel discussion of local educational leaders. This is a free event! Go to the Eastwood Website and check
“Special Events” for a voucher, or stop into the office.
Eastwood “Board Room”:
We would love to have old (or new) games for the new Eastwood “Board Room”. This will be a room set up
with games for students to play as an educational reward. Classes will also be able to sign-out time to use the
room as well. The “Board Room” is hoping to open as soon as we hit our goal of 30 games... and we are
looking for “thinking” or educational games, puzzles, legos etc. Only 15 more to go!!! Thanks!
Book Rental:
If not already paid, all book rental is now due. Checks are to be made out to “Book Rental Fund”. Invoices are
in today’s Communication Folders.
