Collaborative Efficiency | Research Associate Company Description Collaborative Efficiency is a small energy services consulting firm founded in January 2013. We focus on addressing the energy efficiency needs of electric utilities and cooperatives. Our work encompasses a variety of projects, from technical reports on clean technology to energy efficiency program design and implementation. Our scope is national, and we work with a range of different clients, from rural electric cooperatives, to environmental nonprofits to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association—an association of 900 electric cooperatives that serve over 42 million customers nationwide. Our primary mission is to support small, consumer-owned utilities in their energy efficiency efforts and we have already become an important organization in this sphere, providing leadership through the publications we produce and the activities we orchestrate. Position Summary The Research Associate will report primarily to the Senior Associate, but will also work closely with the CEO. Duties will focus on providing research and writing for a range of projects on an as-needed basis. Additional duties include assisting with the strategy and implementation of company marketing and business development initiatives. There is some flexibility in the location of this new position. Ideally the person could live and work out of Seattle or Spokane, but could work remotely. Essential Duties Conduct online and interview-based research (e.g. with experts, utilities, vendors) on energy efficiencyrelated topics, such as best in class utility programs, new products, technologies, trends and services. Co-author publications ranging from technical reports to grant proposals. Develop content for company website, blog, newsletter and marketing collateral. Assist with proposals and tracking business prospects using Salesforce. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in research, writing and/or editing. Excellent writer, researcher and editor. Ability to take initiative, work independently and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable working with a range of clients over the phone and conducting interviews with subject matter experts. Positive attitude and interest in subject matter. Preferred Qualifications: Past job experience with an electric utility or in the energy efficiency industry. Bachelor’s degree in an environmental-related field is preferred but not required. Expertise formatting documents and creating models in Excel. Familiarity with WordPress, Salesforce and MailChimp. Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience. Compensation is by the hour and the hours per week vary, usually between 20 and 40. Typically, the timing of our work is flexible and the Research Associate will be able to dictate much of their own schedule.
