New horizons for European and Global land monitoring
New horizons for European and Global land monitoring Copernicus products and services ready to use Copenhagen 19-20 October 2015 Dear Madam, Sir It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the ‘New horizons for European and Global land monitoring’. The event will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 October 2015 and will be organised by the European Environment Agency and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, supported by DG GROW. Please save these dates in your calendar! ‘New horizons for European and Global land monitoring’ is timed to mark the final stage of GMES/Copernicus initial operations of the land monitoring service (GIO land), and the move to the Copernicus operational phase. Throughout the event, the focus will be on sharing the achievements, challenges and lessons learnt from the initial operations phase, but also on looking forward to the Copernicus operational land services. The event will cover the whole range of products, from the local, pan-European and global components. It will also cover the in-situ component. In addition, ‘New horizons for European and Global land monitoring’ will focus on user engagement and the priorities for future perspectives. The programme is tailored to include a range of plenary and parallel sessions and extends to more interactive, round table discussions. Given the limited number of oral presentations possible, there will be an additional opportunity for a poster exhibition to enable a more comprehensive overview of related activities, products and research. Further information about the venue, the programme and registration will follow soon. In the meantime, we would ask you to book ‘New horizons for European and Global land monitoring’ in your calendar (19-20 October, 2015) and to inform others amongst your network who may have an interest in this event. I look forward to welcoming you in Copenhagen. On behalf of the Organising Committee, Hans Dufourmont Project Manager Copernicus Land Monitoring Services European Environment Agency
