TOURISM TIDBITS
By Debi Boughton
Tourism Director
It is always a pleasure each year to give
an award to the tourism event or
ambassador of the year.
Sheila and Russell Pruett are this year’s
recipients of the Tourism Ambassadors of the
Year. As owners of Jacob’s Vineyard and
Winery they welcome hundreds of
tourists who visit their winery each year.
In addition, the Pruetts host an event
each August. The DELTA Fall Festival is a
fun event that includes a grape stomp, cork
toss, bottling competition, “I Love Lucy”
Look Alike Contest, and children’s games.
The proceeds from the festival go to support
DELTA which stands for Developing
Essential Learning Through Agriculture.
DELTA is a non-profit corporation
organized to provide job training and
opportunities in agriculture for individuals
with disabilities.
Sheila also serves as a Board member
on the Tourism Advisory Board. Russell and
Sheila Pruett are great Tourism
Ambassadors for Kirksville.
