From Mark’s Gospel we hear the final words Jesus spoke to his disciples shortly before He ascended into heaven. Those were words of commissioning, no less real for us today than they were to the disciples then. We are called to “proclaim the gospel to every creature.” For the vast majority of us, this means that we proclaim the gospel by the witness of our everyday lives. Treating others with dignity and respect, providing for those less fortunate than ourselves, being good stewards of the many gifts showered on us, coming together as God’s family in worship and praise—these are all signs that the gospel has taken root in our lives. ————-Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. MAY HOSPITALITY SUNDAY Coffee and donuts will be served in the Community Center following the 7:30am and 9:00am Masses on Sunday, May 24th. All are invited. ADULT SCRIPTURE STUDY—HAIL MARY MAY 6-27, EVERY WEDNESDAY 7PM Why is Mary so important to our Catholic faith? We turn to her in prayer, in the Mass, and in the Rosary. We honor her with special feasts and place images of her in our churches and in our homes. Join us during May as we will look at scripture and the catechism to explore the roles of Mary in the Church: Mary as Mother of God, as our mother, as co-redeemer with her Son, and as Queen of Heaven. Sessions are held each Wednesday in May, starting May 6th and running through May 27th, in room B22 (2nd floor, NE corner of the Parish Office Complex). No preregistration is necessary. For more information call Dave Gauthier at 864-5350 or e-mail fosternpatches@att.net. Suggested reading: Hail, Holy Queen by Dr. Scott Hahn. To all those who shall recite my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and very great graces. 2. Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some signal grace. 3. The Rosary will be a very powerful armor against Hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin, and dispel heresy. 4. The Rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies; it will substitute in hearts love of God for love of the world, and elevate them to desire heavenly and eternal good. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means! 5. Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish. 6. Those who shall recite my Rosary piously, considering its mysteries, will not be overwhelmed by misfortune, nor die a bad death. The sinner will be converted; the just will grow in grace and become worthy of eternal life. 7. Those truly devoted to my Rosary will not die without the consolations of the Church, or without grace. 8. Those who shall recite my Rosary will find during their life and at their death the light of God, the fullness of His grace, and will share in the merits of the blessed. 9. I will deliver very promptly from Purgatory the souls devoted to my Rosary. 10. The true children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in Heaven. 11. What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain. 12. Those who propagate my Rosary will obtain through me aid in all their necessities. 13. I have obtained from my Son that all confreres of the Rosary shall have for their brethren in life and death the saints of Heaven. 14. Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are all my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. 15. Parish families (registered here) who attend Mass at St. Thomas on a regular basis and use their church support envelopes or the electronic method of making their weekly contributions are eligible for a lower rate of tuition for children in Grade K-12 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School, Our Lady Academy, and St. Patrick High School. A form to request parish subsidy is available at the school office and should be turned in to the parish office for completion. Catholic school tuition is expensive but we believe that it is well worth the sacrifices made by the families who choose to have their children enrolled in the Catholic school system. Traditionally, Catholic school families are very involved in their parish. We appreciate their involvement and support. SAVE THE DATE Golf Tournament August 29th at Windance The Bill Seal Memorial is set up for Catholic School Scholarships in the Diocese for families suffering unforeseen hardships.
