Aerosol Adhesives Cleaning Agent Fabric Protection
Welcome to Paducah! Hello everyone and welcome to Paducah, home of the Quilt Channel. This year we proudly celebrate the 22th Anniversary of the Quilt Channel. It seems like only yesterday it was just an idea. Thanks to the AQS, the encouragement of our viewers, and the support of our generous sponsors, we’ve been able to provide quilt related programming to our visitors and area residents for 22 years. We’ve seen so many changes in the quilting industry since we first went on the air. We’ve also met thousands of wonderful quiltmakers and visitors. Every year we are amazed at the creativity and inspiration displayed at the AQS quilt show. Again this year we are proud to present 5 days of high quality, quilt related programming to the visitors of the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show and Contest. If you have an interest in quilting, you’ll love watching the Quilt Channel. Within the pages of this guide you will find descriptions of the programs we are offering, and the times they are available for viewing. You may also keep up with us through our website www. Thequiltchannel.com. There you will find useful information and links to the wonderful businesses who make the Quilt Channel possible. Enjoy your stay in Paducah and we hope to see you again next year. Why Quilts Matter: History, Art & Politics This nine-part documentary series hosted by Shelly Zegart takes a fresh look at quilts and spreads the word about their unique position at the center of a startlingly broad grid of topics Episode 1: Quilts 101 – Antique and Contemporary Quilts What is a quilt? This episode introduces the audience to the brave new world of the American quilt, where that question has many different answers. Episode 2: Quilts Bring History Alive Explore the quilt’s unique ability to preserve, not only our own family histories, but the history of America beyond the reach of memory. Episode 3: The Quilt Marketplace Shelly Zegart takes you behind the scenes in the quilt marketplace—past and present—where you will meet its players, learn its unwritten rules, and penetrate its secrets. Episode 4: What is Art? A quilt is the perfect test case for a dozen theories about what makes art, well…art. Episode 5: Gee’s Bend: “The Most Famous Quilts in America?” Join us as we trace the journey of the quilts of Gees Bend from the clotheslines of the South to the exhibition walls of the country’s greatest museums. Episode 6: How Quilts have been Viewed and Collected It’s now been nearly a century since quilts were first collected and exhibited and they’ve come a long way, baby. Watch as we trace their slow incursion into museum collections, then as they finally make the leap from tester bed to gallery wall.
