Each year our faith community takes time
away from the hustle and bustle of our
everyday lives to gather at Camp Mowana on
retreat. We gather to reflect and discern how
God is acting in our lives and is leading us
into ever new adventures.
At the 2014 retreat, Pastor Carolyn WagarHier will lead us in identifying our spiritual
gifts and discern how we can use those gifts
in the life and ministries at St. Paul.

Friday, November 22nd our 7th &
8th graders will be serving soup,
cookies and hot cocoa to our
Sharing Center clients.
This has been such a well-received activity
in the past so now that we have our fellowship hall completed, we will also offer hot
soup. This will be our 3rd year serving the
Friday before Thanksgiving when we have
so many people needing food. (One year we
served 65 families!)
We would gratefully accept any donations of crock
pots of soup, home-baked cookies and hot cocoa.
Please see Sherie if you are able to contribute
toward this gift to our brothers and sisters who
could use a little extra love handed their way.
(Please refrain from using nuts in recipes in case
of allergies.)

Have you ever wanted to study
The Revelation of John?
LOST AND FOUND
Live & in concert
Zion Lutheran Church
Saturday, November 16th, 7:00 pm
2233 Abbeyville Road, Valley City, OH
No admission charge. A free will offering to help support the ministry of
Lost and Found will be accepted.
Michael and George fell into playing music full time pretty much by
accident. One concert simply led to another and people heard them and
asked them to come back and sing again. Now, they have been at it for
over ten years during and after college and graduate school. It has never
been the mission of LOST AND FOUND to sell out arenas, or to become
staples of the radio. It has always been their mission to be honest and
natural in concerts, to model a way of being an independent band, and to
meet lots of people--communicating with them about faith and life.

Have you ever been curious about the
book of Revelation, wanted to study this
book of the Bible, but never had the
occasion to do so? Then this is your
opportunity. Come join us for the
stimulating study and discussions on
Wednesday evenings.
Study Leader - Pastor Keith Baker
Time - Wednesday evenings, 7:00 pm

The Journey – Walking the Road to Bethlehem
You are invited to join us for a
Tuesday morning Bible study.
Study leader – Pastor Judy
1st class – Sunday, November 17th 9:50 am.
The class will journey with Adam Hamilton
as he travels from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
The Journey is a 5 session DVD study
filmed on location in the Holy Land.
Each Sunday session will begin with a
10-15 minute vignette of Adam Hamilton
retracing the journey of Mary and Joseph to
Bethlehem.
A time of study and discussion will follow
each vignette.
12
We are doing a study on the book of
Matthew by N. T. Wright.
It is not too late to join! We have very
interesting discussions and are learning
so much!
Participant books are $8
Please see Sherie Hanft if you are
interested.

Called to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world:
St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church supports and encourages Oasis Outreach Ministry
~ submitted by Debbie and Rod Sprang, St. Paul’s liaisons to Oasis Outreach Ministry
OASIS Outreach Opportunity, Inc. is an open, accepting, safe oasis in the heart of
downtown Akron where youth gather for spiritual instruction and unconditional
love and support from each other and faithful and responsible adults who are also
nurtured and sustained by those redemptive relationships. Many of the youth who
come to OASIS are products of broken and dysfunctional homes. Dropout rates,
school suspensions, poor attendance, and failure to graduate all too often
characterize their educational experience. OASIS serves 100 8th grade through college age
youth in Akron.
On Wednesday and Sunday evenings Oasis participants gather to share time, enjoy a hot meal
and worship together. The good news that Jesus loves all of us unconditionally is conveyed
through music, Bible readings, individual and group activities, Pastor Lisa’s messages and lots
of prayer. Christ is at the center of each and every Oasis gathering.
We are called to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world and have a unique, important and new
opportunity to respond to God’s call, just around the corner from St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The needs at Oasis are many and ongoing. The Oasis Outreach
OASIS November Needs -Ministry needs our help.
Here are a few ways we can make a difference:
1. Pray for the young men and women participating in Oasis, those
who are considering and those who need the Oasis ministry;
2. Pray for the leaders and the Board and that Oasis may find a new
home soon; and
3. Provide financial support and donations for ongoing needs and
wish list items.
Rod and Debbie Sprang will provide Oasis updates on a regular basis
and highlight the most pressing needs. During the month of
November, let’s focus on collecting personal items. During your next
trip to the store, please pick up a few of the items on the OASIS
November Needs List and drop them in the Oasis donation box in the
Narthex by the Fair Trade table. Feel free to invite and encourage
neighbors, community organizations, friends and relatives to join you
in showing your support for Oasis.
While there are ongoing needs
for these and other items all
year, St. Paul will focus on
providing the following items
throughout November. Please
place your donations in the
Oasis Ministry Box by the Free
Trade table in the Narthex.

Pastor Lisa Arledge, Executive Director for Oasis, also shared a Wish List which includes their
complete list of high-need items at this time. Please contact Rod or Debbie for more
information or to get a copy of the Oasis Wish List. Pastor Lisa, the Oasis Leadership team and
participants are grateful for what St. Paul Lutheran Church has done and will continue to do in
support of this important ministry and to help young men and women in Akron.
