Dedicated to furthering the art of dressage through education
President’s Message
Greetings! The first CDI ever to be held in
Region 9 is almost upon us. Even if you are
not a competitor or volunteer, I would highly
recommend that you come out and support the
show as a spectator. This is truly an historic
event and we think that it will be a great show.
We think we have all of the volunteers that we
need at the show, but call or e-mail Gillian
Gourlay if you can be a floater in case a
volunteer doesn‟t show up or has to cancel.

President’s
Message Continued
During warm-up, Audrey and Rondo looked terrific. Right
before Audrey entered the show ring, Mary removed the
easy ride boot and they entered the arena to do the first
Prix St. Georges test that she had ever ridden in a show.
Around the perimeter, he appeared to be fine. They
entered the ring and started their test. After the turn at C
and during the medium trot across the diagonal, we knew
that it was not meant to be. About the fifth movement into
the test, the judge rang the bell and they were retired.
Approximate cost to make the effort: Slightly over
$1,000. Robin Gaines felt so sorry for Audrey that she
gave her the video of her five movements. Audrey
scratched all of her remaining rides.
Chance to spend the weekend with Audrey, Ben and
Mary: Priceless.
We ended up scratching the show in Tyler the next
weekend. Cost to scratch: $535. Cost of knowing that
our horse will be better for what we are doing with his
hooves: Priceless. We expect Rondo‟s hooves to be
where they need to be in about six weeks.
See the pictures (right) what the hooves looked like before
(due mainly to type of feed and turn-out conditions) and
how good the frog and hoof look now (heels less
contracted and healthier hoof wall).

Top 10 Signs Your
Dressage Test Needs
Some Work:
1. Your horse's response to the canter aid is
"Can't, er, what?"
2. Your twenty meter circle involved jumping the
rail twice.
3. Your halt took place in the judge's lap, instead
of at X.
4. Your thoroughbred interpreted elasticity to
involve trying to kick himself in the head with
his back feet during the "working canter".
5. Your horse entered the arena at A, and M, and
H, and B…
6. Judge's comments include words like
"unusual, dramatic, explosive, and tragic".
7. Leg-yields involve your leg yielding before the
horse does.
8. Free walk was interpreted by your Arab to
involve prancing, a rear, and a few bucks.
9. The judge asks you take the broken letters with
you when you leave.
10. Voodoo dolls of your horse were found in the
possession of the show's grounds manager.

Loves piaffe & passage, very uncomplicated, gentle, and fun. Would be great school master, competition horse, young rider horse,
or even a beach horse.... Very clear headed, no vices, always sound. Trained totally bact to front, however, he will allow front to
back riding but will become a little heavy if you must. My 12 y/o niece rides him.... Price 50K firm. Once the single changes
confirmed price will double. Arnold.Dressage@Gmail.com (A nice loving owner a must over money).
