President International
Academy of Human
Reproduction
Andrea Riccardo Genazzani
Chairman of the congress
Dear Friends
As President of the International Academy of Human Reproduction it is my pleasure to invite you to the 15th World Congresses
organized by Professor Andrea Genazzani in Venice in 2013.
Since the establishment of the Academy by our late friend the
distinguished Brazilian gynecologist, A. Campus De Paz, we had
14 World Congresses and I think the list is quite impressive.
The World Congress became most significant venue for the
scientific exchange in human reproduction, with high quality of
papers and debates. A truly international gathering of scientists
and clinicians who are working in their respective countries to
advance our collaborative agenda and making progress in the
science of human reproduction.
In 2011 we have taken another step in developing a sustained
Academy under the name of “International Academy of Human
Reproduction -IAHR-” a no-profit association governed by 60
articles of our association and following of the Swiss Civil Code,
was registered in Lucarno (Switherland).
The main objectives of IAHR are:
I. To extend the knowledge in all aspects of human reproduction, fertility and infertility, and family planning, as well as
population affairs.
II. To encourage exchange of clinical experience and promote
scientific thought and investigation.
III. To consider ethical and social implications of the current
practice of human reproduction and reproductive biology.
The Fellows of the Academy are selected among those applicants from the fields of clinical medicine, medical and biological sciences, and other fields related to reproductive health and
medicine.
Fellows are elected on basis of their singular and significant contributions to the field and they must be acknowledged as world
leaders in their discipline.
Since the last Congress we organized in Melbourne several
meaningful developments occurred in our field, which we shall
be happy to hear about throughout the scientific program in
Venice 2013.
The 2013 Congress will promote excellence in reproduction
and aim to bridge gaps between the expansion of information
and its implementation in clinical practice.
The advances in technology and scientific knowledge have
created new ethical dilemmas, which may influence societies
around the world. These will be broadly discussed.
I look forward to see you in the romantic city of Venice, “city of
water, masks and bridges” sharing with you the most pressing
issues facing clinicians and scientist in the field of reproduction today.
Dear friends and colleagues,
According to the rules of the Academy of Human Reproduction,
the 15th World Congress on Human Reproduction, will be organized in the magnificent scenario of Venice, from 13th to 16th March
2013.
The Conference will develop all the aspects of Human Reproduction, from adolescence to fertile life, pregnancy, menopause and
aging both in female and male.
The major chapters of Reproductive Pathology such Polycystic
Ovary, Endometriosis, Cronic Pelvic Pain, Abnormal Uterine Bleeding, Breast Cancer, Primary Ovarian Insufficiency and Hypogonadism in male will be discussed.
Major attention will be also dedicated to surgery and fertility, sexuality, medically assisted procreation, ovulation, implantation and to
the important areas of prenatal diagnosis, high risk pregnancy.
Furthermore, the fertility preservation in cancer women undergoing chemotherapy and the ethical aspects in reproduction will be
discussed.
The Congress will also be enriched by “meet the expert sessions”,
discussing topics such as Adenomyosis and the atypical issues in
pelvic ultrasounds.
Venice has always been the bridge between Orient and Occident,
exchanging culture and commerce. What better place than Venice
for an ethical debate stating the point of view of Islamic, Jewish
and Catholic Community, all well represented in Venice?
The Congress location of the Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel on
Giudecca Island gives us the possibility to quietly enjoy all the
Congress Sessions, while the vaporetto easily takes us to Venice
Center to enjoy the beauty of this unique city.
I very much look forward to meet you all in Venice.
