Double Degree Programm:  University of Technology Vienna, Faculty for Architecture and Planning and  Tongji University Shanghai, College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) General information The Double Degree Program enables graduates of the TU to get not only a TU degree but also a degree from Tongji University, Shanghai (China). In cooperation with the partner university, CAUP, Tongji University, the study course Architecture is offered as a Double Degree Program. The study course offers a place to five students each of  Vienna University of Technology (TUV), Faculty for Architecture and Planning, and  Tongji University Shanghai, College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) The course begins every winter semester. Calendar (Year 1) All participants of the Double Degree Program study together in Shanghai for one year (Year 2) and in Vienna for one year. (Year 3) The third year the students study at their respective faculty.  The course and contents of the studies is based on the Master studies for “Architecture and Urban Planning”  Students much achieve at least 180 ECTS (30 per semester)  The final thesis is submitted in Vienna and Shanghai respectively, with participation from jurors from both faculties. 
After their successful graduation, the graduates are awarded the degree “Dipl.‐Ing der Architektur”/ Master of Science from the TU Vienna and a “Master of Architecture” diploma from Tongji University. Goals Apart from enhancing intercultural skills, this program contributes to understanding the professional framework conditions and prepares the students for jobs with international orientation. In addition to the qualification goals of the Master studies, the students are to be given easier access to the Asian and European labor market. The double degree in combination with two years of practical work on site makes starting self‐employed work in China easier. Study fees During their stay at the partner institutes, the participants must remain enrolled in the respective courses at their home universities and pay study fees there. The partner institutes do not charge any study fees (apart from fees for housing, if required). Language courses Within the framework of the Double Degree Program, the following language courses are offered: At TU Vienna:  Chinese for Austrian students  German for Chinese students At Tongji University in Shanghai  Chinese for Austrian students Internships Internships of several months in an architect’s office in Shanghai are envisaged. Internships in Vienna are being prepared. Application Students interested in the Double Degree Program need a Bachelor degree in Architecture or Urban Planning. Documents for application Applications by students are accepted only on paper by the Dean´s office (Dekanat) of the Faculty for Architecture and Planning until 15 May 2011.  A complete application includes:  Informal application with letter describing motivation (350 words maximum)  Curriculum vitae with passport photo  Portfolio  All certificates Deadlines The application period for the Double Degree Program ends on 15 June for the next winter semester. Applicants who are not accepted but fulfill the preconditions for acceptance will be given priority for the next application. The studies begin with every winter semester (in China: 1 September 2011). Selected applicants will be invited for an interview by the end of June. The decision will probably be made by 30 June 2011. the Master program in CAUP Master program 30 6 semester summer semester 2014 Architecture DIPLOMA/MASTER DIPLOMA/MASTER THESIS THESIS Double Degree Programm / Doppelter Abschluss der Hochschulen:  Technische Universität Wien, Fakultät für Architektur und Raumplanung und  Tongji University Shanghai, College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) Allgemeine Information Double Degree Programm ermöglicht AbsolventInnen der TU Wien, neben dem TU‐Abschluss auch noch einen Abschluss der ‐Tongji Universität, Shanghai (China) zu erlangen. In Kooperation mit der Partnerhochschule: CAUP, Tongji Universität wird der Studiengang Architektur als Doppel‐Master Programm (Double Degree Program) angeboten. Der Studiengang bittet jeweils 5 StudentInnen der  TU Wien, Fakultät für Architektur und Raumplanung und  Tongji Universität Shanghai, College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) einen Studienplatz. Studienbeginn ist jeweils zum Wintersemester. Kalender (JAHR 1) Alle Teilnehmer des Double Degree Program studieren ein Jahr gemeinsam in Shanghai (JAHR 2) und ein Jahr gemeinsam in Wien. (JAHR 3) Das dritte Jahr absolvieren die StudentInnen jeweils auf ihrer eigenen Fakultät.  Der Studienverlauf und der Studieninhalt richten sich nach dem Angebot des Masterstudiengangs Architektur und Raumplanung  Studierende müssen mindestens 180 ECTS erreichen (30 pro Semester).  Abschlussarbeit wird unter Teilnahme der Juroren aus beiden Fakultäten jeweils in Wien und Shanghai erbracht werden.  Nach dem Erfolgreichen Abschluss erhalten die AbsolventInnen von der TU Wien einen Dipl.‐ Ing. der Architektur /Master of Science und von der Tongji Universität einen Master of Architecture Diploma Ziele Neben den interkulturellen Kompetenzen, trägt dieses Programm zum Verständnis für professionelle Rahmenbedingungen bei, und bereitet die Studierenden auf eine Berufstätigkeit mit internationaler Orientierung vor. Zusätzlich zu den Qualifikationszielen des Masterstudiengangs soll den Absolventen der Zugang zum Asiatischen und Europäischen Arbeitsmarkt erleichtert werden. Das Doppeldiplom in Kombination mit zwei Jähriger Praxis vor Ort bietet einen erleichterten Einstieg in selbstständige Tätigkeit in China. Studiengebühren Während ihres Aufenthaltes an der Partnerinstitution müssen die Teilnehmer an den jeweiligen Studiengängen an ihrer Heimatuniversität eingeschrieben bleiben und dort Studiengebühren bezahlen. Von der Partnerinstitution werden keine Studiengebühren erhoben (von den eventuellen Unterkunftskosten abgesehen).
