The Jackrabbits program
uses a variety of drills, relay
games, activities and scrimmage hockey games to
introduce children to skating
and hockey. Parents are encouraged to actively participate and come out onto the
ice with their children (laced
up, of course). Score is not
kept at Jackrabbits hockey.

We all know that Wildwood is a unique and wonderful place to reside. To live in close
proximity to an active community centre where we have easy access to groomed ski
trails, skating rinks, toboggan slides and a building that can be used for community
events, as well as rented reasonably for individual gatherings contributes to the quality of life we enjoy. How many communities do you know in Winnipeg that have their
own monthly newsletters and community telephone directories? The Wild and Woodsy
and the phone book keep us informed and connected. Your donations go to support
all of these amenities. Our community centre is an asset to residents and an attractive
feature to anyone considering purchasing in Wildwood Park. Its active presence is also
good for our property values.
This has been a great year of support from volunteers, but our community centre
needs financial support as well as the generous donations of time so many of you give.
This year our goal is for 100% household participation. A suggested donation is $50.
Although everyone may not be able to give that amount, it is hoped that each household can give something. Collectively, we can make a difference.
If you have suggestions for improvements to the community centre, please come to
a regular monthly meeting and speak up or join the team of dedicated volunteers who
help with programming and management of your club! Wildwood is one of the most
admired neighbourhoods in the City of Winnipeg. We are renowned for our strong
sense of community and volunteerism, but we have also faced times when the City of
Winnipeg has considered closing what has become the symbol of our neighbourhood
spirit. Please be generous with your support.
Section reps/canvassers will contact each household during the month of October. Donations
received after Nov. 30, 2010 will be considered as donations for the next fiscal year (2011).

Jackrabbits Hockey 2009/10 Season
FOR ALL CHILDREN AGE 5-8 YEARS OLD
Once again your Wildwood Community Centre is proud to support Jackrabbits Hockey. The
Jackrabbits program uses a variety of drills, relay games, activities and scrimmage hockey
games to introduce children to skating and hockey. Jackrabbits is a family-oriented program,
geared to those of you who are looking for a low-key introduction to the game.
When: Every Saturday - starting December 11th, 2010 until
March 5th, 2011 (ice dependant)
Where: Wildwood Community Centre
Time: 1:00pm until 2:30pm
Hockey equipment requirements: Mandatory - Helment and full cage face
mask, skates and hockey stick. Strongly recommended shin guards, elbow
pads and neck guards.
Fee: $30 per child or $50 per family
Registration: Simply fill out the form below and drop it off at 93 Wildwood
Park (Section D) - Craig’s House

4. Action items reviewed. Bill is awaiting call backs
from local clubs regarding puck boards.
5. Fall Canvas Package: Sue Piper thanked section
reps in advance. The goal is 100% participation.
The group will keep track of how many donations are made so that community participation
is documented. The package contains: a) name
tags, b) instructions, c) yellow paper for mailbox
if not home, d) there will be a place to initial if you
would like name in the directory (for privacy act
purposes), e) pin, f) donor cards. Please contact
Linda and Sue with questions. Canvassers have
until November 15th to complete the collection.
JP suggested that canvassers should ask about
the e-Woodsy option at each home.
6. Treasurer’s Report and Motions:
Motion (#1) that the board accept the Monthly
Requirement Reports prepared by the Treasurer
for presentation to the City of Winnipeg. This report is for the month of September 2010. This will
be sent to the City and requires official approval.

a.) BM discussed the hockey rink light poles with the
City. City funds may be able to be directed to this
project. ACTION: BM will continue to follow up
with the City on this.
b.) IA presented the report from WIT. An excellent
turn-out was had for both walk through historical
tour and the house tour. Fun was had by all. The
next event planned by WIT will be a community
meeting November 9th, 2010 at 7:30 pm. It is
anticipated that Jenny Gerbasi and an individual
from the City Planning Department will also attend. The meeting is intended to start a discussion
about what residents want the park to look like in
10 years. If there is community interest, a “Background Report” may be generated. It was clarified
that WIT is a different group than the Resident’s
Association.
c.) Repair of club windows has now elevated to a priority number 2. BJ spent a great deal of time with
the City while they investigated the conditions. A
report will be sent regarding what the City will be
fixing.
d.) Regarding the proposed MTS tower: BJ met with
the City. If there were to be financial compensation for allowing the tower on the club property,
it would be a one-time donation. BJ has very

recently been given a Website regarding
research pertaining to these types of towers. The club needs to indicate if it wishes
to move to the next level of the proposal.
Motion by KS to give the City and MTS
permission to move to the next level of the
proposal. 2nd by DP. ACTION: BJ will send
the website information to the Woodsy and/
or the Website. Community members will
then be able to educate themselves regarding the proposal.
