My dear convention attendees:
Welcome to ShadoCon 2015: RETRO YEAR!
It was a wild ride preparing everything for
ShadoCon. This year more than ever the
community really pulled through. It’s because each and everyone one of you that ShadoCon is still around
today. We as the convention planners are only a small piece of the immaculate portrait that makes up what
ShadoCon really is. Without everyone working in the shadows, ShadoCon could not exist. Now we all know
that shadows can’t be seen without a bit of light and I’d like to thank each one of you for being that light. You
are all the light that makes ShadoCon what it is! Once again from the depths of our hearts we thank you for
being a part of not only this community, but also the ShadoCon family. Have a wonderful time this year and
create memories that will last a lifetime!
Always yours, Victoria Colina and Cris Colina

RULES OF CONDUCT
ShadoCon is here to provide a fun and exciting
environment for its attendees. We want to also make
sure everyone is safe as well. So please follow our
simple rules to make sure that everyone can have a
great time.
No Alcohol in Convention Space. Please do not bring
any alcohol into the convention space, including the
dances. If you are of age (21 or older) then you may
drink at the bar or in your hotel room. Underage drinking will not be tolerated at all and may result in ejection
from the convention, as well as notification to the
proper authorities.
No Signs or Panhandling. The reason we have this
in place is because a lot of these signs make people
feel uncomfortable. “Will do (Yaoi/Yuri/Glomps) for
(Money/Other Goods)” is just an example. If your sign
is obviously a part of your costume, like the Panda in
Ranma ½, then it would be acceptable. So if you have
a sign that is not a part of your costume and you are soliciting, then your sign will be taken from you without
question.
No Smoking, except in designated areas. The Florida
Indoor Clean Air Act states that there is no smoking
in public/function areas. Please don’t smoke in a nonsmoking room. There are plenty of designated areas for
you to smoke.
No Stealing. This is an automatic ejection from the convention. Stealing will not be tolerated and the proper
authorities will be contacted. We will have security on
24 hour watch throughout the convention.
No Sleeping in Convention Space. If you are feeling
tired, please head up to your room. Just because it is a
late night convention doesn’t mean that you have to stay
awake the whole time.
No illegal drugs or non-prescribed narcotics. We have
an absolute no tolerance rule with illegal drugs. You
will be ejected from the convention and authorities will
be contacted. Just don’t do it. Stay safe and drug free.
No Tackle Glomping. Yes, you heard it right, no tackle
glomping. We have seen plenty of people through the
years get seriously hurt due to glomp attacks and we
don’t want to see any of you get hurt either. Stay safe
and give regular hugs instead.
You must have a valid ID and be 18 and up to get into
any of our 18+ events/panels.
Policies
Please respect the hotel staff, convention staff, and
your fellow con goers. Treat people how you would
like to be treated. Do not harass anyone. This includes
any unwanted physical contact, following someone
around a public area without a legitimate reason, or
infringing on their personal liberties. Please note if
you go up to someone and they say “NO” or to leave
them alone, then your business is done. If you feel
that you are being harassed report it to the convention
security.
All children 12 years old and younger must be
accompanied by an adult. This is for their safety and
safety of others around them.
No running in the hotel or any convention space.
Just use common sense. If it’s illegal outside the
convention, then it’s still illegal inside the convention.
WEAPONS POLICY
You are allowed to have prop weapons at ShadoCon.
No Live Steel weaponry. If your weapon is sharp and
you think it could really hurt someone, then don’t
bring it. We want everyone to have a fun and safe
experience.
No Real Guns. Concealed carry permits and federal
dealer’s permits do not matter. It is a huge liability
to have our guests walking around the convention
with firearms. If you choose to bring your firearm,
then you will be ejected from the convention. You
may have Airsoft or BB guns if the barrel is filled
or plugged and the nozzle is painted bright orange.
When you have your firearm checked, we will peace
tie the trigger with a zip tie, so that it cannot fire. Cutting your peace tie can cause you to be ejected.
No Live Steel. All bladed weapons must be of
prop nature, such as foil-wrapped cardboard,
plastic, or wood. No real swords are allowed in the
convention area, even if they are peace-bonded.
Bokken are permitted.
No Sharp or Pointy Edges.
Make sure that all your prop
weapons have dull edges, so
that you don’t accidentally
stab someone while walking
through the convention.
