OF BROTHERHOOD
On July 30 through August 1,
Alpha Sigma Phi held its

ALPHA SIG PARTNERS WITH
AWARE AWAKE ALIVE
Alpha Sigma Phi announced a partnership with its newest
philanthropic beneficiary on July 30. Aware Awake Alive is
a non-profit organization based out of Austin, Texas with a
mission to prevent the senseless loss of young adult lives
from alcohol poisoning.
“We believe that partnering with Alpha Sigma Phi will yield
positive outcomes as this fraternity fosters leadership and
works hard to make the world a better place,” said Lisa
Dow, Executive Director of Aware Awake Alive.
AAA joins RAINN, Humane Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters
and Homes for Our Troops as the five philanthropic
parterns of Alpha Sigma Phi. To learn more, click here.

I’M AN ALPHA SIG
Alpha Sigma Phi will run a new social media campaign
throughout the duration of the fall semester.
The campaign is called “I’m An Alpha Sig” and is based on
the individuals of our great brotherhood. It is our goal to
collect testimonial-style content from our undergraduate
and alumni members to piece together the message of
what makes Alpha Sigma Phi a life-changing experience.
Submissions will be shared on social media, with the
brother’s photo and his quote.

ELEVATE 2015 RECAP
A HISTORIC CELEBRATION
OF BROTHERHOOD
Held exclusively every other year, Elevate - International
Leadership Conference provides current undergraduate and
alumni brothers the chance to see the Fraternity on a
broadened scale. While the majority of the fraternal
experience will come at a local level, this program provides
opportunities to network and share in brotherhood with other
undergraduate men, the alumni who came before them, and
Fraternity Staff. The 2015 edition of Elevate was held at the
Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel, where a record
number of brothers convened in what is now the largest single
gathering of Alpha Sigs in the Fraternity’s storied history.
In the Service & Philanthropy Track, men were sent into the
community to make an impact in Columbus. A total of four
groups served the host city of Elevate. Alpha Sig partnered
up with LifeCare Alliance, Keep Columbus Beautiful, Grange
Insurance Audobon Center and the Salvation Army.

A brand new philanthropic
partnership with Aware Awake
Alive was revealed at Elevate
on July 30. Shannon Kostecka,
a spokesperson from the
organization, took the stage at
kickoff to communicate AAA’s
goals within the partnership,
as well as ways Alpha Sigs can
help the cause. Now one of
Alpha Sig’s five philanthropic
beneficiaries, AAA goes in
conjunciton with the value of
Charity.

The Pi Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi at Colorado was honored
during the Manigault/Anderson Awards Dinner on July 31 for
their 100th year as a chapter. Beta Chi (American) and Beta
Psi (Rensselaer) were also honored for 75 years and counting.

MEETING OUR DONORS
“
Briefly describe what you decided to do with your career after
graduating from college.
My senior year, almost by accident, I interviewed with an insurance company, never
expecting to take a job with them. They offered my a job, I accepted and spent 41
years in the insurance industry. I had a great career and never regretted my career
choice.
How has being a part of the Fraternity helped you in your professional
career?

As a business major, I knew I wanted a career in the business sector. I didn’t
realize until I was well into my career that the leadership opportunities I had in my
fraternity would help me obtain leadership positions in my career and give me
confidence to take on leadership responsibilities.
As an alumnus, what is the most rewarding aspect of donating to
Alpha Sigma Phi?
Donating to worthy causes is like planting seeds; the reward comes later, but only if
the plant is taken care of properly. The rewards which come from donating to Alpha
Sigma Phi will come as the funds are used to grow men ready and willing to make a
positive contribution to our society and become positive role models to other young
men.
What were some of the factors that played a role in you deciding to
make your gifts to Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation?
Looking back, my fraternity experience helped get me to where I am today, in a
position to be able to help others. I hope my gift helps young men have positive
experiences in college which can lead to successful and productive lives.
What do you hope your commitment provides Gamma Zeta in years to
come?
I am hopeful that my contribution, along with many others, will help to ensure a
long future for Alpha Sigma Phi at Bowling Green State University.
