Speakers will review the historical developments of membranes, extensive clinical results, case studies and surgical techniques related to the successful use of titanium reinforced non-resorbable membranes. In addition, aspects of implant development and clinical results will be discussed. Aims • Explore vertical and horizontal ridge augmentation with titanium reinforced non-resorbable membranes, reviewing extensive clinical results. • Understand the historical developments of resorbable and non-resorbable membranes. • Detailed step by step review of the surgical technique to treat significant bone defects with titanium reinforced non-resorbable membranes. • Review of implant development from a clinical results perspective and gain understanding of outcomes for different categories of patient. • Understanding of what to expect as a new user of membranes, in the treatment of significant bone defects. He is also a Senior Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with focus on implant treatment at NÄL Medical Centre Hospital, Trollhättan. He is a Member of editorial boards for Clinical Implant Dental & Related Research, Clinical Oral Implant Research, Int J Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, J Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine and Int J Dental Traumatology. Dr Dahlin has over twenty five years of experience in implant treatment and related research and is considered one of the pioneers in the development of the concept of Guided Bone Regeneration that still remains his main focus within research. He frequently travels worldwide to lecture, conduct research and teach on this and other implant-related topics. Dr Norbert Haßfurther M.D., D.D.S, Dr. med. (PhD) Dr Norbert Haßfurther qualified and was licensed to practice medicine in 1982 at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany. In 1985 he completed his training and qualified to practice dentistry. He completed his Specialist degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1991 and was appointed as Senior Physician at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Giessen, Germany. In 1994 he established his own private practice in Wettenberg, Germany where his main focus is in the area of dental implantology and bone grafting. He has lectured throughout Europe on his bone grafting techniques. Professor Lars Sennerby DDS, PhD Professor Lars Sennerby graduated with a DDS-degree from the University of Gothenburg in 1986. He received his training in implant surgery in the Brånemark Clinic, Gothenburg, where he worked part-time from 1989 to 2002. His PhD thesis “On the bone tissue responses to titanium implants” was defended in 1991. He was appointed Associate Professor in 1993 and Professor in “Clinical and experimental oral implantology” at the Dept of Biomaterials, University of Gothenburg in 2000. Since 2001 he performs implant surgery in a private practice in Sweden, UK and in Clinica Feltre, Italy. Dr Sennerby is presently part-time professor at the Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He has published extensively on dental implants, Biomaterials and bone healing. Dr Sennerby is co-editor-in-chief for Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. Dr Isabella Rocchietta, DDS, Specialist in Periodontics Dr Isabella Rocchietta graduated in dentistry at the University of Milan, Italy in 2002. Awarded one year scholarship from the Department of Medicine, University of Milan. Research Fellow, Department Periodontology, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, MA. Fellow and instructor at the Department of Periodontology, University of Milan, Italy. Research consultant for the Institute for Dental Research and Education (IDRE) until 2011. Chairman of the EAO Junior Committee (European Academy for Osseointegration) from 2007 to 2011. Member of the Experts Council of the Osteology Foundation and member of the communication committee of the EAO. Currently performs clinical work limited to periodontics and implant dentistry in London, U.K. Affiliated with Department of Biomaterials, Institute for Clinical Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Author of several national and international peer reviewed publications and book chapters. International speaker on; bone regeneration by means of growth factors and scaffolds, tissue engineering, soft and hard tissue neo-formation with autogenous living cells, osseointegration and implant surface modifications. Session Chairman Dr Kavit Shah BDS, MFDS.RCS, M.Clin.Dent, MRD.RCS Dr Kavit Shah graduated from Guys’ and St Thomas’ School of Dentistry in 2002. In 2009 he completed a four year Masters and Specialist Training Programme in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute, graduating with distinction and is now a recognised specialist in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics by The General Dental Council. He is a partner at The London Centre for Prosthodontics, a specialist referral practice in Cavendish Square. In addition to the time spent at the practice, Kavit is a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow at The Eastman Dental Institute, where he lectures and supervises graduate students in the treatment of implant and prosthodontics patients. His practice is limited to Prosthodontics, providing treatment solutions for complex cases.
