biography / biographie
Born in 1972, of Belgian nationality, Sébastien Segers spent his childhood in various countries of East and West Africa.
Returning to Europe, he studied architecture at the Ecole d’Architecture
Paris Belleville with the architect Bernard Huet and graduated in 1999.
Alongside, he developed a close relationship with the architect & scientist Pierre Debeaux, leading to a thesis and a book on the architect.
Following the completion of his thesis, Sébastien Segers joined the office of Jean Nouvel in Paris for 2 years working on various large scale projects including the Beijing Theatre international competition and a tower
in Frankfurt for which he managed the coordination of engineering.
In 2001, Segers moved to London and joined the studio of Australian
designer Marc Newson, whom he had first met in 1996. While in Newson’s office he managed projects such as the Lever House restaurant in
the 1953 landmark building, and participated in the development of the
interiors for the new A380 fleet for Qantas airlines.

Paris in 2003, and expended as a Limited company in London in 2007.

Madrid (2005), the Marie-Hélène de Taillac jewelry shop in Tokyo (2005),
the Azzedine Alaïa accessory shop in Paris (2006) and the own houses
of the designer in Paris and London (2006 & 2009).

He is also Marc Newson’s associate architect for the 3.000m² award
winning First Class lounges of Qantas airlines in Sydney and Melbourne
(2007) and currently leads the development of further Qantas Lounges
in Asia and Australia and a 20.000m² 6 stars hotel in London.

Through these collaborations he has developed an expertise in the management of large scale projects, interface between clients and contractors and site management all with a hi-standard of construction quality.
