Operating an ATV or other motor vehicle on National Forest roads,
trails, and areas open to cross country travel carries a greater
responsibility than operating the same vehicle in and around town.
Not only must the operator know and follow all traffic rules but they
must show care and concern for the natural environment as well as
other forest users. The misuse of motor vehicles can lead to the
temporary or permanent closure of any road, trail, or area.
PROTECT YOUR PRIVILEDGES, STAY ON DESIGNATED ROADS,
TRAILS AND AREAS. Individuals should be aware that the roads,
trails, and areas may contain hazards that are not signed or even
known to Forest Officials. Care should be taken at all times to
protect oneself and those in your care. Much of the National Forest
may be remote and medical assistance would not be readily available.
Cell phones do not work in many areas of the National Forest. Take
adequate food, water, first aid supplies and other equipment
appropriate for the conditions and expected weather.
