Rugby League Dylan Egan and Jack Quine represented the South Coast with pride in the Under 11's Rugby League team last week in Tamworth. Their team finished 6th overall in the state and both boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We have 4 teams competing at the All Schools Rugby League Carnival on Wednesday from Under 9 to Opens. Mrs McDonald and Mrs Miller are very excited to be able to cheer on the teams and wish to thank Scott Stewart and his band of merry coaches for coaching the teams on the day! Our school team led by 'Super Coach' Miss Baxter will also play on Friday in the PSSA Knockout against arch rival Ulladulla. Good luck boys! Touch Football We are fortunate to be one of the few areas that runs a successful local Touch competition in Summer. Conducting trials for the PSSA Knockout team in Touch has been incredibly challenging with strong talent in Stage 3. Congratulations to the girls who were selected from the 2 trials last week and best of luck to the boys who will trial in a round robin format this week. I was super proud to have 29 girls and 36 boys put their names down to trial! Page 2 Athletics We have been practicing our Athletics skills during our PE lessons and Friday sport. I have been impressed with the high level of participation during these lessons with many students commenting on how surprised they are with their own personal achievements with regards to the differing Athletics rotations. Don't forget to hand your note and $5 in for the Athletics Carnival - 16th June. The $5 pays for the bus to and from Kiama and for hiring specialist equipment that we use on the day. Even if you will be transporting your child to and from the carnival, you must pay the $5 to cover these costs. The canteen has asked me to remind parents that they will be operating on the day. There is no need to put in a lunch order; children will be given the opportunity to visit the canteen on a rotational basis during the day. They will be able to purchase hot food, pre-made sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Volunteers! The success of the carnival is dependent on the amount of helpers we have on the day. Many activities require more than 1 person to run and as always we value the important contributions our parent helpers make. Please let Mrs McDonald (3-6) or Mrs Dougall (K - 2) know if you are able to assist on the day, even if it is as little as 1 hour. Thanks in advance. Netball Our Netball team made us all proud on Wednesday when they were courageously defeated by a very strong Illaroo Road team. Thank you once again to Mrs Dougall for her training and coaching of this team. Mrs McDonald CHESS UPDATE -NSW PRIMARY SCHOOL COMPETITION The School Chess Team is made up of Ryan Harper, Fergus Flanagan, Jai Parker and Harry Hayward. They have beaten Gwyneville Public School (2 wins and 2 draws) and Kiama Public School (3 wins and a draw). This is an excellent start and I congratulate the team on their efforts. I would also like to thank Kate Mather who has transported the boys to Kiama and Gwyneville! Mrs Miller CHESS CLUB A reminder that Chess Club is held on in the library every Monday lunchtime for all students, years 2-6. Gerringong After School Care (GASC) We offer a wonderful afternoon experience, full of fun activities, friendships, and fantastic times. We are proud of the quality of care that we provide on a daily basis. We operate out of the school hall from the hours of 3pm to 6pm, 5 days a week, except for school holidays. Our service provides children with a healthy afternoon tea, consisting of a fruit platter, then a small ‘main meal’. Children are then given opportunities to get involved in activities ranging from sport, craft, drama, performance, games, projects etc. with quiet/free time always on offer. We also openly welcome children from other schools. Fees for our service are subject to government rebates such as the child care rebate and child care benefit. Fees are currently $25 per day, per child (this is a maximum of $12.50 after CCR and less after CCB if entitled).
