FROM MSGR. RICHTER
CLERGY
Dear Parishioners of Cathedral,
This is my last weekend at the Cathedral
until Holy Week. I leave on Friday for Rome
to be commissioned a Missionary of Mercy by
Pope Francis on Ash Wednesday in St. Peter’s
Basilica. Then I will be traveling throughout the
United States, carrying out the responsibilities
that the Holy Father has assigned to me. I will return on
Palm Sunday. It won’t be the same not being at the Cathedral
during the season of Lent. There is no better place to be for
Lent than this vibrant parish.
For Advent, we gave out a daily prayer reflection entitled
“Theotokos.” Many of you sang its praises to me. The man
who wrote it is Fr. Mark Toups, a friend of mine and priest
in Louisiana. For Lent, we are giving out his lenten prayer
reflection booklet. It is called “Journey to Jerusalem.” Be
sure to pick one up next week; it will be a fine companion
for your own journey to Jerusalem this Lent. They cost the
parish $5.00 each, so if you can throw a little extra into the
basket to help cover the cost, it would be helpful. Thanks.
Let us pray to Jesus for one another!
