Giveaway Days
Residents of Loyalist Township are encouraged to take part in the
"Giveaway Days" on June 20 and October 24. This initiative is
being offered to promote the re-use of all unwanted goods. Travel
throughout the Township and see what your neighbours are giving
away.
How it works: Starting at 7 a.m. on the designated days, place
any unwanted household items at the curb or end of the driveway
and mark it "FREE".
Only take items that are marked "FREE" and do not leave
picked-up items on other people's property. Once you pick an
item up it becomes your property and responsiblity.
Respect other people's property. Please do not walk on their
grass, or block sidewalks or roads with your items. Remove any
items that are not taken from your property by 5 p.m. on the same
day. It is your responsiblity to remove any items from the curb as
Loyalist Township will not be collecting these items for disposal.
Item Precautions: The consumer Product Safety Bureau of
Health Canada advises that baby walkers, infant self-feeding
devices, elongated tipped lawn darts, and poly-carbonate
baby bottles (BPA) are illegal to sell or give away. For further
information visit Health Canada's website at www.hc-sc.gc.ca.

curb by 7 a.m. and should be collected by 5 p.m.
Each bag must have a tag, and if a can is used the
tag must be visible on the top bag. There is no limit
on the number of tagged bags/cans that may be put
out; however, they must be tagged. The following
restrictions apply:
Maximum weight per bag/can is 18kg/40lbs; no bag
larger than 75cm x 95 cm/30in. x 38in. or a can size
of 77 litres/17 gallons.
Free Large Item Disposal Opportunities (FLIDO)
Residents of Loyalist Township may utilize Free
Large Item Disposal Opportunities (FLIDO) at any
time the landfill is open for business, including some
Saturdays during the summer and fall months. In
2015, mainland residents have 6 FLIDO and Amherst
Island residents have 4 FLIDO.
One FLIDO is considered to be the equivalent to
one pick-up truck load, having a cargo capacity
of 2.44m (8 ft.) by 1.22m (4 ft.) by 0.60m (2ft.)
= 1.78m3 (64 cubic ft.). A FLIDO may be used
during the regular landfill hours of operation. For
further information contact the Municipal Office, or
visit www.loyalist.ca. Grey Box Recycling
