Jubilee of MERCY
In December 2015 we welcomed Bassam’s family related to
Majid’s family that arrived in 2014. Now we await the family
of the third brother, Kameel.
SALESIAN FAMILY
PILGRIMAGE
The sponsorship for Kameel’s family, is fully funded by a
relative overseas. As co-sponsors, St. Benedict parish is
committed to the moral support of this family for one year
from the day they arrive. Although we do not yet know the
family’s arrival date, we anticipate it will be very soon since
the family, currently in Lebanon, completed their medical
exam and interview with Canadian immigration officials in
that country. The next step is for the family to receive their
travel documents. We’ll keep you posted as to their arrival.

Sign up in Support of Life and Human Dignity...it’s quick and easy
The Declaration on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide is the result of efforts of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops
(CCCB) and The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) to collaborate on a response to legislative efforts and legal action
that seek to revise Canada’s Criminal Code to allow the practice of euthanasia and assisted suicide. The Declaration
demonstrates that commitment to the sanctity of human life and the importance of upholding human dignity leads also to a
strong call for renewed efforts in relation to palliative care.
Signing the Declaration will indicate broad support for its stated principles. It will also witness to the desire held by many in
Canada to promote palliative care, home care and long-term care, and to ensure compassionate responses at all levels to
those who are near death, as well those who are disabled, depressed, elderly or who feel burdened by physical or mental
suffering and illness.
To support the Declaration on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide and to add your signature, go to:
http://www.euthanasiadeclaration.ca/sign-the-declaration/
Thanks to all of you from our parish who already signed the declaration!

In the Archdiocese of Toronto we are blessed to have living

to thank God for the gifts of these religious sisters, brothers
and priests and to pray for God’s blessing upon them in their
efforts to faithfully live the evangelical counsels of poverty,
chastity and obedience.
In celebration of the vocation and witness of these special
