Young People Activity Programme January—February 2016 Welcome to the Winter Activity Programme! If you are a young person aged 12-18 with learning disabilities/ additional needs, check out the wide range of social activities on offer. We have an exciting winter in store, with regular club nights, an overnight break at Zinc Arts for a creative weekend, plus lots of fun and day trips, including Zorb Football, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory & much more. Whether it’s a couple of hours at the movies, or a whole day at the zoo, our Activity Programme is bursting with fun things to do for young people, whilst giving parents/carers a break. We support young people to get out and about in the community, make friends, build new skills, try new activities and have fun. We offer a full range of evening, weekend and after school activities throughout the academic year, based in Basildon, Braintree, Chelmsford, Colchester and Tendring, whilst day trips during school holidays are wider spread. The young people are always happy to welcome new InterActors to the groups! Not ready for Group Activities? Ask us about Our fantastic programme that links young people with learning disabilities and special needs with peers and volunteers, guided by a Circles Co-ordinator. Young peers provide volunteer support, friendship, mentoring, inclusion, skills development, confidence building and, of course, lots of FUN! Are you registered with InterAct? We ask parents/carers to complete and return a signed registration form and risk assessment before their son, daughter or the young person in their care can take part in their first InterAct activity. Many of you will be familiar with the current online system for booking holiday activities. Bookings will be taken weekly in advance, and will be accessible via our website. If this is not your preferred system of booking please telephone or email—contact details can be found on page 2. The team are always available to discuss this, and any other matters. TRAMPOLINING — Bounce along to Dropzone for a fun trampoline session then enjoy a bite to eat in the café and chill out with friends afterwards. VALENTINE’S DAY—Meet at the Progress Club to listen to the latest sounds from DJ Gavin, or request your favourite dance tune if you want a boogie. There will be a chance to join in activities too. RASCALS PLAY AND QUASAR — Play session and two 20 minute Quasar games. In addition to this they also meet every other Monday for varied Chelmsford based activities. Activities are chosen by the young people based on their interests.
