Petrochemical Security Services Petrochemical Security Services www.securitasinc.com The 21st Century Challenge Response Capabilities Throughout the oil and chemical industries, plant managers, EH&S directors, and security managers are facing a new challenge. Together with environmental, health and safety, security is becoming a major regulatory area; and in the ONG and chemical sectors, regulatory compliance is critical. How can managers best protect personnel, assets and business continuity? A partnership with Securitas USA delivers: The Securitas USA organization is designed to meet facility, regional or national emergency response needs. Securitas USA has the management, staff, personnel, planning and strategic partnerships in place to deliver additional manpower to meet local emergencies or threat level increases. Securitas USA demonstrated that by rapidly deploying hundreds of additional officers to refineries and chemical plants after Hurricane Katrina, and thousands of additional officers to critical infrastructure after 9/11. • • • • security experience. safety expertise. regulatory knowledge. unparalleled response capability. A Partnership with Securitas USA Securitas Security Services USA can partner with you to manage security resources, meet business goals, and accomplish security’s evolving missions. We have been providing security services to the oil, natural gas and chemical industries for decades. Currently, over 2,600 Securitas USA officers serve America’s petroleum and chemical industries. These clients span the country from New England to Hawaii, from Alaska to Florida. Their operations include upstream facilities, pipeline companies, tank farms, refineries, chemical plants, chemical distribution warehouses, and corporate campuses. Every week, Securitas USA officers work over 100,000 hours helping to protect our ONG and chemical clients. When turnarounds, natural disasters, and other business emergencies occur, our management team and professional staff provide our clients with the additional emergency security resources and help they need. Safety We are committed to the safety of every employee. We support this effort through initial safety training, ongoing refresher and awareness training, and behavior-based training programs which address both the physical hazards and the at-risk behaviors • benchmark selection, training and technology. • outstanding quality management. which cause accidents. Securitas USA has twice been nominated for national contractor safety awards by petrochemical clients. In 2007, with almost 5 million hours worked at oil and chemical facilities, Securitas USA’s TRIR and DART rates closely reflect those reported for U.S. refiners themselves. However, Securitas USA believes that critiquing accidents to improve our program is more important than applauding our overall success, and that there is no room in a safety culture for complacency. Regulatory Compliance Securitas USA management works proactively to prepare for new regulations such as MTSA and CFATS, well before enforcement begins. In 2007, Securitas USA managers worked with their MTSA-regulated clients to identify how many officers would need TWIC cards for both regular and extraordinary situations, and were fully prepared prior to TSA beginning enrollment at the first port. Our officers are trained not only in compliance with security regulations, but assist petroleum and chemical clients in complying with environmental, DOT, OSHA and other regulations. Securitas USA was one of the first security companies to be designated and certified under the SAFETY Act. Selection, Training, Technology Securitas USA has unequaled programs to recruit, select and train officers. In an age when many positions now require computer skills — at scale gates, receptionist desks, sophisticated monitoring rooms — Securitas USA now requires all applicants to apply via computer; both the number and skill-sets of our applicants have improved since that innovation. New hires are vetted through drug testing and other screening, and are interviewed by trained HR personnel to determine that they are an appropriate fit for the unique petrochemical environment. Officers are trained to not only understand the policies and procedures of their site, but also the regulatory environment they work within. Our officers are equipped with the tools they need, whether Nomex uniforms and hard hats, or security patrol vehicles that can stand up to constant use in a petrochemical setting. Securitas USA services are supported by our proprietary National Communications Center and Securitas USA Automated Field Enterprise System (SAFES). Quality Management and Continuous Improvement Our success in partnering with oil and chemical industry clients is based on mutual, regular feedback, using objective measurements of performance against goals. Our monthly Stewardship Reports and KPI metrics are benchmarks for the industry. Securitas USA is committed to the professionalization of security in the oil, natural gas, and chemical industries. Like our clients, we are committed to meeting all challenges, and continually improving by challenging ourselves. ® Securitas Security Services USA is a knowledge leader in security.
