It was an opportunity to make known the beautiful scenery of the territories La Spezia and the Cinque Terre in Italy. These promotional activities in the territory of La Spezia and the Cinque Terre, are part of a series of planned activities following the flood of October 2011, and the aim to invite and attract an increasing number of South African tourists. The evening started with the speech by the President of the Italian South African Chamber of Commerce Mr Antonio Cimato. He welcomed all present and introduced Ms Monica Poggi, representing the Consortium Cinque Terre, gave a presentation of their beautiful tourist attractions, explaining how to reach Cinque Terre and which main activities can be enjoyed there. About 100 guests were present at the event, including the travel agencies, tour operators, travel agents in the travel sector and specialized press. Dr. Paolo Bonissone who represented the Italian Embassy in Pretoria, Dr. Marco Barberis representing the Italian Consulate in Johannesburg and Dr. Giulio Mulas Director of the ICE office in Johannesburg. The entire evening was hosted at the restaurant "Il Tartufo" in Hyde Park, which is part of the 10 certified restaurants in South Africa, as part of the Hospitality Brand of Italian Restaurants in the World: “Marchio Ospitalità Italiana”. Chef Omar Scarabello delighted all the guests with the typical dishes and products of the region Liguria, receiving at the end of the evening many compliments from the Ligurian delegation. - Le Cinque Terre approdano in Sudafrica – 6 Maggio Continuano gli eventi e le missioni imprenditoriali da parte della Camera di Commercio Italo Sudafricana a supporto delle aziende Italiane e in collaborazione con le Camere di Commercio Italiane. Ad atterrare in Sudafrica è stata questa volta una delegazione di aziende iscritte alla Camera di Commercio di La Spezia. Previsti dal 4 all'8 maggio una serie di incontri istituzionali e con operatori commerciali sopratutto in ambito turistico. La missione ha preso il via con un evento che si è svolto il 6 maggio a Johannebsurg. Focus della serata è stata la promozione del territorio spezzino in Sudafrica e l’opportunità di far conoscere i bellissimi scenari dei territori spezzini e delle Cinque terre. Queste azioni promozionali del territorio di La Spezia e delle Cinque Terre fanno parte di una serie di attività programmate a seguito dell’alluvione di ottobre 2011 e puntano ad avere in futuro un numero crescente di turisti sudafricani. Il benvenuto è stato dato da Antonio Cimato, neo presidente della Camera di Commercio Italo Sudafricana, dopodichè è intervenuta Monica Poggi, in rappresentanza del Consorzio Cinque Terre, con una presentazione delle loro bellissime attrazioni turistiche, come raggiungerle e quali attività svolgere. Presenti alla serata circa 100 ospiti, addetti al settore, tour operator, agenzie viaggi e stampa specializzata, intervenuti inoltre il Dr.Paolo Bonissone in rappresentanza dell’Ambasciata Italiana a Pretoria, il Dr. Marco Barberis in rappresentanza del Consolato Italiano a Johannesburg e il Dr. Giulio Mulas Direttore dell’ufficio Ice di Johannesburg. Location tutta italiana scelta per ospitare la serata ovvero il ristorante “Il Tartufo” di Hyde Park, il quale fa parte dei 10 ristoranti certificati in Sud Africa nell’ambito del progetto Marchio Ospitalità Italiana Ristoranti Italiani nel Mondo. Lo Chef Omar Scarabello ha deliziato tutti gli ospiti con piatti e prodotti tipici della regione liguria ricevendo a fine serata i complimenti da parte di tutta la delegazione ligure. 9th May - BUSINESS BREAKFAST in cape Town On Thursday 9th of May a Business Breakfast was held in Cape Town at the Mount Nelson in collaboration with FNB. After the successful event in Durban last winter, the Business Breakfast in Cape Town turned out to be the next step, of many ongoing business missions.The aim is to organize similar events in other South African cities. Set in the heart of Cape Town, the Mount Nelson Hotel nestled in a lush garden estate was the perfect location to host the umpteenth event in a continuous and fruitful partnership between FNB and the Italian – South African Chamber. The new President of the Italian – South African Chamber of Trade and Industries Mr Antonio Cimato, was there to welcome the guests. His introductory speech was followed by the speech of the FNB regional delegate Mr Matthew Chorley, The FNB Chief Economist Mr Sizwe Nxedlana, was the guest speaker , who, at the end of his speech answered the questions posed by the guests. Attending the Breakfast were 120 economic operators from different sectors , as well as important dignitaries such as the Consul Edoardo Maria Vitali, the Secretary General of the Italian – South African Chamber, Mariagrazia Biancospino and the CEO of Accelerete CT, Chris Whelan. In addition to the above Sizwe Nxedlana and Antonio Cimato were also present. During the Breakfast the guests had the opportunity to directly interact with some members of FNB who sat at each table. Both the parties were pleased with this meeting. The event ended with a video presentation of the next FNB Business Excellence Awards which will take place 21st November 2013. 9 Maggio - BUSINESS BREAKFAST a Cape Town Giovedì 9 Maggio si é tenuto a Cape Town, presso il Mount Nelson Hotel, l’evento organizzato in collaborazione con First National Bank. Dopo i successi di Durban dell’inverno scorso, il Business Breakfast di Cape Town si presenta di fatto quale step successivo di un programma che mira ad organizzare eventi simili anche in altre città del Sudafrica. Collocato nel cuore di Cape Town, l’hotel Mount Nelson è stato la perfetta location per ospitare l’ennesimo evento frutto della continua e proficua collaborazione tra FNB e Camera di Commercio Italo – Sudafricana. A dare il benvenuto agli invitati è stato Antonio Cimato, neo presidente della Camera di Commercio Italo- Sudafricana. Il suo discorso introduttivo è stato seguito dall’intervento di Matthew Chorley, delegato regionale di FNB, e successivamente da quello del Chief Economist di FNB, Sizwe Nxedlana, il quale, al termine del suo discorso, ha provveduto a rispondere alle domande poste dagli ospiti. Presenti all’evento 120 operatori economici in diversi settori e personalità di rilievo quali il Console Edoardo Maria Vitali, il Segretario Generale della Camera di Commercio Italo – Sudafricana, Mariagrazia Biancospino e il CEO di Accelerate CT, Chris Whelan, oltre ai sopracitati Sizwe Nxedlana e Antonio Cimato. Durante il Breakfast gli ospiti hanno avuto la possibilità di interagire direttamente con alcuni membri di FNB essendo questi ultimi presenti ad ogni tavolo. Entrambe le parti si sono dette soddisfatte di questo incontro. A chiudere l’evento un video di presentazione del prossimo Fnb Business Excellence Award che si svolgerà il prossimo 21 Novembre 2013. FREEDOM DAY Giovedì 9 Maggio si é svolta presso l’Ambasciata Sudafricana a Roma la celebrazione del Freedom day. On Thursday 9th of May the celebration of the Freedom day was held in Rome at the South African Embassy Ambassador H.E. Nomatemba Tambo This year, under the theme: MOBILISING SOCIETY TOWARDS CONSOLIDATING OUR DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM, the South African Embassy in Rome celebrated 19 years of freedom and democracy on 9 May 2013, at the Official Residence. The guests were treated to authentic South African music emanating from P.J. “Tandeka” Powers, dance and South African cuisine. Ambassador Tambo opened the evening with a word of welcome and expressed that as the country heads towards celebrating 20 years of freedom next year, South Africa remains highly appreciative of the solidarity pledged by the peoples of the world including the indelible mark left by the Italians who contributed immensely in the collective effort of the International Solidarity Movement. It is unsurprising that a son and a daughter of the Italian soil: Ms Dina Forti and the late Mr Giuseppe Soncini, were recently honoured by President Zuma with the Orders of the Companion of Oliver Tambo, an award which is bestowed to foreign citizens who have promoted South African interests and aspirations through cooperation, solidarity and support.
