THE Briarwood Weekly • July 22, 2016 • EARLY REGISTRATION ENDS JULY 29 September 9 –10 Briarwood Presbyterian Church 2200 Briarwood Way Birmingham, AL 35243 205.776.5200 • briarwood.org info@briarwood.org A 3-day in-town retreat for high-schoolers that will IMPACT their lives and help them to IMPACT others for Christ. COST: $65 Sign up at briarwood.org/youth by July 27. Both BYG (high school ministry) and Raiders (Jr high ministry) have had a great summer so far! On Sunday nights both BYG and Raiders meet from 6:00 to 7:30 at the barn for our Sunday night meeting. Here we have music, led by our senior high praise band, and a time of teaching. This summer, in conjunction with the church’s theme, we are studying what it means to “walk in step with The Holy Spirit.” On Tuesdays both BYG and Raiders have our afternoon drop-in Bible studies. We have been studying the character of God. Our summer interns are leading the studies and are doing a great job! We have had two visitors pray to receive Christ through these Bible studies this summer! Both BYG and Raiders have also been able to serve the Lord through mission trips this summer. We took a team of 48 high schoolers to Jamaica to serve at a deaf school. Raiders took a team of 40 to Cherokee, North Carolina, to serve the Cherokee people. Both teams were able to participate in construction work and a VBS for children on these trips. Finally, both the BYG and Raiders have two great retreats going on this summer. 56 of our junior high students attended “The Edge” conference, and several students from our group committed their lives to Christ during the week. On August 5,6, and 7 BYG will have Impact Weekend. This is an intown retreat with fun activities, worship, and teaching. Our theme for this weekend is “denying ourselves.” Please pray specifically for this up-coming weekend retreat, but also pray for all the other opportunities that we have had this summer. Please pray that through the youth ministry our students would come to know Christ and grow in their love for Him this summer. Jay Shaw youth Pastor Do you have the NEW APP?
