Personal Development and well-being
• Each student will have a personal tutor.
• The guidance programme for your son or daughter is
delivered through collapsed timetable days. In these
sessions students follow a programme of PSHCE
pertinent to their age and need.
• Regular academic reviews will take place with subject
teachers and personal tutors
• They will write the reference for UCAS or employment
• They are the first point of call for students to gain
advice and guidance
• They will be the cheerleader for the tutor group!
What will my child study?
A’ Level
We have a mixed blend of ‘old’ A Levels * (AS & A2) and ‘new’ A
Level subjects, although the majority of students will be following
the new qualification as a two year linear course.
*Further Mathematics, Government & Politics, Mathematics, Media
Studies & Music Technology.
and /or
BTEC
comprising subsidiary diploma and diploma elements. These
qualifications now have an examined element.
Plus – There is an opportunity to pick up an EPQ during Year 12
In addition if GCSE English or mathematics has not been passed at grade C or better, students
must retake either or both of these examinations and will be placed in classes to prepare for
them.
Examination's
A Level - The majority of students starting their studies with
us next year will complete an A level at the end of year 13.
they will not be undertaking an AS qualification unless
1. A student wishes to drop a subject and is unsure of which
one to drop
2. The College has concerns about the ability/ commitment
of the learner to complete the full A’ Level qualification
AS Level – Where a subject still retains an AS and A2 element
the student will complete an AS in this subject.
BTEC – Please note these subjects now include a examined
element.
Travelling to and from College
 No statutory entitlement to home to
school/college transport.
 Post 16 students have to pay for their
transport.
 Students may use existing school bus
routes if there is space.
 Students may use registered bus services
(e.g. route from Cranfield to Wootton)

Life After College
We are already preparing for them to leave!!!
It is very advantageous for students to identify as soon
as possible what they want to do in the future. This may
be related to employment or further study. The sooner
they have an idea the quicker they can tailor their
