The design happening of the year
The 27th Design Show
Created and hosted by PID Agency, the DESIGN SHOW has become the
most important Canadian gathering of design professionals from all
the disciplines and from all over the world. Recognized as one of the
most elegant and one of the most design exhibitions in North America,
it is a not-to-be-missed event where visitors can witness new product
launchings, discover the latest trends in space layout and lifestyle, as
well as make fascinating encounters.
The 27th edition of SIDIM was an event of creativity and a leverage
for promoting and stimulating the design quality and business
development! SIDIM was, this year again, a cultural event with a
multitude of discoveries!
Oh May 21, 22, and 23, at Place Bonaventure, more than 14 500 design
and architecture professionals, business people and consumers met
more than 225 exhibitors who were carefully selected to represent the
residential, commercial and office trends. Thanks to the variety of the
exhibitors, all fields of design were represented: industrial design,
interior design and architecture.

of SIDIM 2015
The thematic spaces of SIDIM 2015
From the realm of design emerge objects and spaces that improve our daily lives, offering a new way to
use materials from yesterday as well as new thinking for the environment of tomorrow. In order to take
proper account of this reality, the 26th edition of SIDIM took the design lovers on a journey through many
booths and thematic spaces that illustrate different perspectives of today’s design.
1. Culture Avenue
Since 1997, the DESIGN SHOW plays a key role in the intermingling of craftsmen and interior and
architecture design professionals from Quebec by proposing to craftsmen a space to present their creations
and know-how. Culture Avenue hosted artisans from the art, designer and photographers trades. By
consolidating into a larger project professionals of craft, design, architecture and photographers, the
Culture Avenue helped foster collaboration between these disciplines, including promoting the use of
products and knowhow of the craft in development projects, thereby increasing their market share in
Québec
2. Green Building
Space focused on innovation in terms of sustainable
development, Bâtir Vert presented innovative specialists with
backgrounds in construction, architecture and renovation.
Sustainable development is at the heart of the current concerns,
and this thematic space allowed visitors to discover new trends,
products and eco design services, that had become so popular
that makes it essential.
A real bridge between design and construction, Green Building
was a window allowing the discovery of green techniques to
build and renovate intelligently.

3. Carrefour International
Carrefour International took you on a ride and made
you discover the new talents and the design icons’
creativity that make them proud. No effort has been
spared to foster the business development for businesses
searching for opportunities in Quebec, Canada and
North America. This was the case with the Austrian
Consulate General – ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, which was
accompanied by Austrian designers : Andrea Baumann,
CreativeDesignSolution, Perludi, and Voglauer Möbelwerk.
4. DESIGN & THE CITY
This space was dedicated to the design destinations of Greater Montreal which are part of the DESIGN &
THE CITY guide. The majority also participated to the scheduling related to the activities and exclusive
promotions which took place during the Design Week, from May 21 to 31.
One section of the space was dedicated to the Live Design thematic, where 20 real-estate projects, selected
by design, architecture and real-estate professionals, were exhibited. The visitors were able to discover
these projects thanks to big images and were able to learn the different components which made it so
that each one was picked, their different phases and attractions, as well as the people involved (interior
designers, exterior designers, architects, and promoters). Also, these people were invited on site, during
the Design Rendez-Vous, for design networking.
We were also able to discover the destinations of the Quartier Design Royalmount, which gathered a
variety of design businesses and services.

5. The Exteriors
Live outdoors while staying at home ! It is possible ! SIDIM has proven it with this area. We have seen
there, among others, multi-leveled terraces, outdoor kitchens, exterior surfaces, accessories, and splendid
furniture. With what we were proposed, terraces and gardens will surely take on a lounge look, if not
that of true dining rooms !
6. The Gallery
As art and design are becoming increasingly
intermingled, theDESIGN SHOW devoted
an area to art. By regrouping art galleries,
photographers, sculptors and professionals
from all the disciplines of the visual art, the
Gallery and its Art and café design have become
a true place of meetings between artists and
design professionals.
5
Les espaces thématiques du sidim 2015
7. Leisures & Design
NEW this year! This space had all sorts of
surprises in store for you! It was dedicated
to companies offering products and services
linked to the leisure industry, which set
themselves apart by their unique design.
We saw, among others, the CosyBubble, the
launching of the Sequoia model presented
by Minimaliste Petits Bâtiments Durables,
Espace Pepin’s Bulle/roulette, Unda SUP’s
Paddle boards, retractable awnings for vans,
super design bicycles, and many more.
8. Business District
In order to highlight the benefits a space well organized
could have on the staff, business partners and the
customers, the DESIGN SHOW focused on those who
have been helped by designers. These were present to
explain the positive effects that this association can
have on their business.
6
Les espaces thématiques du sidim 2015
7. Water & Fire
Kitchens, bathrooms, household appliances, heating, fireplaces… in short, everything that has to do with
water or fire in terms of design is grouped together in one thematic area.
It is well known that a renovated kitchen and bathroom will bring the highest returns when it comes
time to sell. Large and open areas are the current trend. The bathroom size almost tripled during the
last 20 years. Now, we notice a real enthusiasm for oversized bathrooms with freestanding bath and
heating floors. In the kitchen, it is all about granite or corian countertops, ventilation hoods and electrical
appliances in stainless steel as well as recessed lighting. For heating and households, new technologies
are constantly emerging in order to create the comfort necessary for well-being.
Societal changes mean that certain rooms in the house are taking on greater importance, with the result
that we are looking at them from a new angle and designing them differently. With “hiving” emerging
as a new trend in living, the kitchen has become the focal point of the home. The bathroom has morphed
into a wet room. SIDIM invites you to come and check out these latest developments along with other
nascent trends.

Activities and contests
of SIDIM 2015
Activities and contests of SIDIM 2015
Because it was time to celebrate, this year, the DESIGN SHOW increased the level of activities and
attractions. Receptions, artistic events, contests and 5-7 were opportunities for professionals, business
people and consumers to speak directly to experts. After all, design is also a question of meetings and
exchanges!
Design Agora
Visitors relived the 8th edition of GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN, a real showcase of designers’ talent and
local architects and discover the laureates.

Awards for Elite (APDC), organized in China, 30 laureates of the APDC have been chosen and have traveled

years, my work has afforded me the privilege of

embark on my very first SIDIM to discover the
